Great food, great service.4/14/23 visit. Stopped in for a late dinner. Sat immediately, drink order taken quickly and entree order taken shortly after that. Over a good visit but it was really cold in there. Started off with chips and salsa, fair warning they aren’t complimentary. We’re ok with that. I ordered a classic, Monterey Chicken and the wife had taquitos of bistek. Food was great.

3 stars for the fast friendly service 2 stars for the food. Heard great things about this restaurant. It’s normally very busy and you have to wait to be seated. 02/14/22. Went in for lunch, the chips and dips were super yummy and the Ice tea was strong. The main course came out and that’s where the fun ended. We ordered 3 different meals and all 3 were BLAND. I mean zero flavor. I didn’t even eat half of mine because it was that bland and horrible. Not sure what kind of Mexican food they are trying to service, TexMex, Mexico City, or coastal South Mexico? Whatever it was, it missed the mark.. Heck it missed the entire target! I really wanted to like this establishment and add it to the RGV food format. Unfortunately, it will be checked off as No bueno… Plotted. Scouts Out.

I’ve eaten there since 2008. During work 4 lunch or wknds n sent my friends n they loved it. I travel 25mi just to eat there….love it. The carne guisada, chk/beef enchiladas, the soup n anything u order is scrumptious. …Oooh n the tea is so yummy. I have to take a large glass home…love it.

Everything was delicious here. They have the best authentic Mexican enchiladas that remind me of my childhood. Grilled Tilapia and cheeseburger were delish!! The fish was oh so flaky ‘n fresh and the beef patty had rich flavor 80/20 mix and a wonderful granular texture…..what a burger should be. Rice & beans on point. Always fresh ingredients, great service and clean, relaxed atmosphere.

First time visit to El Gallito. Cousin bragged up the fajitas and we were not disappointed. Exceptionally delicious. Flavorful, cooked to perfection. Can’t say enough about them. Give them a try, you will be glad you did.
