HANDS DOWN THE BEST STEAK TACOS IVE EVER HAD. 15 plus years in Texas every authentic Mexican restaurant you can imagine and EL GATO NEGRO has the BEST Mexican food you could imagine. Do yourself a favor and stop by. SERIOUSLY. The handmade tortilla chips, customer service, food marinated excellently. 10/10 would recommend! Come here like NOW!

The margaritas were so good! The food was cooked perfectly as well! Everything is cooked fresh when you order it. The chips and salsa were great to munch on while we waited! Our server was very knowledgeable. After our meal we also bought a T-shirt and I love that they had them available. My only complaint is they do have a limited menu. I wish they had enchiladas but they said they are working on expanding their menu.

We came in here our second night in New Orleans and were seated but left shortly after because we didn’t realize that they close at 8, and we did not want to be the reason everyone was there later than necessary. So we came back for lunch the next day. The server was the same one from the night before and was very sweet. I got a beet mojito which was AMAZING and the Acapulco salad which was also one of the best things I’ve had while here. Chips are thin and crisp, tasty salsa!

Though I loved the crab meat, this place is overpriced and underserved. $8 for a taco, that was dry, a tiny salsa cup refill is $1.75. The classic Margaritas were tasty but I probably wouldn’t be back to this place, sorry.

The service was exceptional. The food was really good and filling. My boys got two tacos each. They bring the toppings on the side instead of in the taco. The guacamole was made fresh table side. I had the burrito and my husband had the enchilada dinner. We were waited on immediately and didn’t wait long for the food.

First stop for dinner after a flight in, this spot is traditional for some of our family, my first time. Food was delicious and the margaritas were amazing. I got the Devil’s Blood. Chips and salsa were over top top good. We will visit again next trip!

Best steak tacos I’ve ever had in my life. Seriously. The steak was perfectly cooked. Just tasting the steak by itself I could taste the homemade seasoning and flavor that made my day. The owner is very nice and the service was great.
