Best coffee in Tampa. Anywhere in Tampa. I’ve made my rounds looking for it. This is it. Everyone here is always so friendly and helpful too. The food is always on point. The coffee today was just *that good* that I stopped in the middle of my reports at work to leave this review.

My home away from home! Everything tastes home made. The pan con bistec empalizado which is New in the menu is my favorite! Try it you will love it’s so big my husband and I share it. Best chicken salad!

El Jefe’s Cafe. Google has the name wrong due to a mistake in signage. Tostada is cuban toast and should not be part of the name. There are certain foods I try that will tell me how good a place is. Their red beans are a solid 4, very good. The breaded steak has good flavor was again a solid 4, it came with onions…better than most, almost a 5. The cuban sandwich will be very popular for most people, a heavy sandwich with lots of roast pork. I look for cuban that is a careful balance of all the ingredients. The steak sandwich is excellent, grilled onions and a generous serving of steak. Grits, eggs and bacon were excellent, the pancakes too thick for my taste. Great service, a clean place and the food is good. I do recommend El Jefe’s Cafe.

Update 11/24/21: Went with my adult grandson for breakfast and were very pleased. Had iced caramel coffee of course, such a yummy treat! everything was well prepared. Cuban toast, bacon and scrambled eggs (with Cholula) for me and scrambled eggs, sausage patties, potato tots and biscuits with gravy for my grandson – all prepared well and with care. Those people really hustle and they’re all so nice. Love the atmosphere.

Our favorite place! We look forward to visiting every time we come to Florida. We’ve yet to have anything that’s not been amazing! Service is phenomenal, food is delicious, drinks are great! Cafe Con Leche is our favorite! Kids love the flavored lemonades. Cuban is deserving of being the best we’ve ever had!!! Breakfast burritos are delicious every time!!

Amazing!!! Was on this side of Tampa from Clearwater for an apt. Stopped in here and I was looking at ppls reviews on Google and pictures. A guy posted his dish. I HAD to have it! It’s a busy Saturday we came in and got a newly cleared table, only one left. Tad bit slow, but I swear it is worth the wait. My boba strawberry lemonade was great as well, Melissa our server was also great!

This was my first time visiting here. I read the reviews and took a chance. The experience was wonderful. The staff was welcoming and kind. I had the sausage egg and cheese waffle sandwich. Delicious . Definitely will return again.

The staff stands at the front as if they are all on break/lunch talking amongst themselves. (One time they were all drinking alcohol beverages) They all greet you when you walk in (a little overwhelming). Food is okay, service is pretty bad, they are more in a rush to get back to drinking or having their own conversations at the front as you getting your meal out to you or actually helping you. Some food items are over priced, such as their empanada at $6 each.
