Service was very SLOW. Took over 15 minutes to make 2 margaritas. Ordered the burrito with steak chicken and shrimp. The steak and chicken were so dry. The friends we were with ordered the same time as us, people that came in after us were getting their meals before we did. Think a table of 6 would be served at the same time, nope they would bring out a couple plates and then 5 minutes later then next couple. For sure going to take a break from this place till service improves.

Had the lunch special, street tacos. I was with my brother we got one chicken and one steak. The chicken was good but the steak was excellent. A harder sear on the chicken could elevate it but my brother disagreed, he felt it was tender just slightly less flavorful. The meal came with two tacos in either chicken or steak. I highly recommend the steak. Well worth the price.

I had previously had some poor experiences regarding El Maguey’s service (I couldn’t find someone to give me the check or help me check out), but my visiting family talked me into going back. I am quite happy they did so, as our visit was amazing.

I think this is an excellent place if you look for Mexican food in Maryville. As soon as you enter the restaurant, you will find an environment full of authentic decorations and music. The waiters are friendly and the food is served promptly. They give you free salsa and chips at the beginning of your meal. In my case I ordered carne asada. The rice and beans were perfect. To improve, in my opinion, I would salt more the meat, add more lemon juice to the guacamole, and cook a little more the onions. Overall, even though it has things to improve, I think it’s worth it.
