The food is great and so is the service! It feels fairly crowded inside, though. The booths are uncomfortable because anytime someone moves (in your party or a table that shares the booth, the whole thing moves. So, you might be eating, then the table behind you sits down and disturbs everything or causes you to spill/drop something). The inside could use an update, but aside from that, it’s an excellent stop. Good variety in the menu, servers are friendly and prompt, and prices are all fair.

We started going here because service at our former favorite has become horrible. El Maguey is happy to see you, has great service, and drinks are great! Large menu with plenty of options to choose from and doesn’t take too long. We go at least once a week. Give them a try you won’t be disappointed.

seated quickly and greeted well. ordered queso, never came. ordered margarita brought no salt. no silverware, brought us plastic set to use. employees loud and in groups standing around. best part chips and salsa.

Waitress did not clear dirty dishes. That’s a big deal for me. I don’t want to sit after dinner and visit with a table full of dirty dishes. Chips were great, not too salty and fresh. Hubby cleaned his plate which is unusual 🙂

After moving to Derby 2 years ago my husband and I discovered El Maguey. We love Mexican food and it’s the best around! Their cheese dip and chips is always a must on each visit. We have had the chimichanga, fajitas, carne asada tacos and steak fajita quesadilla which are all very good. I hate to admit it but we eat there at least once a week. It’s definitely worth a try if you happen to be in Derby and are craving Mexican food, good service and an enjoyable restaurant atmosphere.

3/10 They get one for service, one for salsa, one for the kids meal. The food was priced same as most mexican restraunts, but I have had better and more flavor from Taco Bell and Taco Tico. The food was un appealing and dissapointing.
