What an excellent mother’s day meal I had at El Mate. Everything was just perfect from the food, drinks and the service. For appetizers we chose 3 different empanadas, and all of them were delicious, and so were the calamari. The main course dishes grilled salmon and skirt steak were perfectly cooked. The skirt steak was cooked to the requested medium-rare doneness, and it was tender and juicy. All 3 desserts that we ordered were also delicious.

I’ll start with “Wow!” Our first time. We were celebrating a friend’s birthday; party of 4. Decided to try several appetizers first: empanadas were perfect; loved beef, eggplant/goat cheese most. The polenta was also perfect and the mushrooms and sauce so, so good! Wonderful mixed appetizer with fantastic blood sausage, chorizo and sweetbreads – great potato salad. Since we tried so many appetizers, we decided to share two main entrees. The chicken milanesa was amongst the best we’ve had outside of Argentina/Uruguay. Really tender and wonderful tasting; had the napolitana with ham and cheese on top. Perfection… The skirt steak was also perfect and wonderfully tasting. The recommended kale salad was also great and a good side for the meats. Outstanding french fries and rice & beans. Deserts were creative and good too. Surprised by how good the house wine was (a malbec). The passion fruit margarita also great. Our server was wonderful and the overall evening was great. The staff all worked together to ensure good service and a good time. “Gracias…” We’ll be back…

Amazing experience, for my first time eating Argentina food I really enjoy it, server delivered amazing experience also helping me with the mate experience which I had never tried before, I would definitely recommend it as your first time, and make sure to try empanadas as well, I fall in love with the ham and cheese, chicken empanadas love the place!

The place is small, but for us having a party of 6, they accommodated us rather quickly. They service was good and the food was delicious. Especially the empanadas, which are a must try with the chimichurri. I got the steak & mashed potatoes. The steak was cooked exactly how I like it medium rare, which most restaurants are a miss with cooking it on point. It could have used just a tab bit more salt, but overall it was great, I would recommend this place.

Great food and great service. Gustavo and the team took amazing care of us. The empanadas were cooked to a perfect texture and were bursting full of flavor on the inside.
