Gave this place a try after driving by it for a while. The staff was friendly and attentive. The two for one Margaritas are not worth the $15. Food was not well seasoned and left a lot to be desired. Not very authentic Mexican food. Given the other options around, probably won’t be back.

El Mescal has become our top choice for Mexican food in Fruita! The guacamole and rum margaritas are exceptional, and I appreciate the rum option since I can’t do tequila. On the other hand, my husband loves their original margaritas, making it a perfect spot for both of us to enjoy our favorite drinks together. Not to mention, the attentive and friendly employees add a special touch to every visit. We’re already looking forward to our next dining experience at El Mescal! oh… and you can’t beat BOGO margaritas.

The perfect post-ride spot. Get the buy one get one jalapeno margaritas served in a pitcher and be done for the day. Their roasted jalapenos on the side come with a delicious amount of added flavor too. Ask for those extra.

This is a small family-operated restaurant that is the “real deal.” Not the standard “Tex-Mex” fare that is copied without change at chain restaurants across the country. Good portions and outstanding flavor. They even offer a very worthy bowl of Menudo and a very tasty plate of lingua tacos. Try this place if you are tired of the same old same old.

I don’t know what I was expecting but the food was about average Mexican food. The iced tea was very fresh. It sure seems like we were a long ways from the kitchen. I felt bad for waitress having to trek back and forth. But she did it with a smile and was very gracious.
