Yeah went out of my way to try this place for breakfast burritos. By far best real fast burrito I’ve had in the area. Better than Burrito Express for sure.

The food here is delicious. It’s also very consistently prepared. My husband and I eat here almost every week. It’s not the fastest drive but your food is always fresh and they don’t skimp on the salsa.

The shredded beef tacos were so good and the price was great. The folded cheese crisp was good too and had a lot of cheese.

El Metate Mexican Food on 6140 E. Main St. in Mesa AZ. I didn’t know this place existed. I pulled in and ordered from the drive-through. I was pleasantly surprised that the wait time was short from the time I placed the order to paying and picking up my food. There were 2 cars in front of me. I ordered the 3 rolled beef tacos with cheese and guacamole. The tacos were deep fried to perfection! But wait…the best part was the shredded cheese & guacamole piled high on each taco. This serving size with no other side items made a perfect meal to go. I’d like to suggest that the windows/wall on the side where the speaker to order is located have the same signs showing the great specials posted on the side of the building where we pay & pick up our food. Well, I’ll be back to try other items on the menu. I may go inside next visit when I have more time. By the way, the woman at the drive up window was kind and had a great smile. Gracias señora.

Hit or miss when it comes to the food. When it come to customer service , I can always count on having the drive up window slammed as I say ty… Yesterday my partner found a hair in his burrito. Safe to say that will be the last visit for me!

My husband and I first found this restaurant in 2009 when we first moved in together. We really like the chimichanga and their carne asada fries. Gotta get any of the dishes with the green salsa!

The food feels real while maintaining the character of Mexican fast food- it feels like what Filiberto’s used to be. El Metate is a little out of my way, but I’m most certainly going to be back. I cannot remember the last time I enjoyed a steak, egg, cheese and pico breakfast burrito this much.

My new go-to place for when I’m in the mood for Mexican! Amazing chicken tacos, and chips & guac! I really appreciate that they do not cover everything in pico and onions, thanks!
