Customer service was good. Host and servers were very courteous. Prices were good and the food was served fairly quickly. They serve queso along with mild and spicy salsa with the chips. Very good however the chips were partially burned toward the middle and bottom of the bowl. Didn’t bother asking for fresh chips because I didn’t want to fill up on them. I ordered the taco salad with fajitas meat. They are not stingy with the fixings. The steak was tender and tasty. The veggies were fresh and nicely diced. I hate chunky veggies on my salad. It was really good. My only concern was the shell. I really enjoy eating the shell with my salad. This shell was overcooked and tasted a bit greasy. I’ve passed this place several times and it always seems busy. I wanted to try for myself. There was a slight smell when I walked in. Like maybe a plumbing or ventilation issue. Nothing overwhelming but definitely noticeable. The customer service cost, and ambiance will rate them a second visit.

A buddy and I went on a nice back road motorcycle ride to Waxahachie from Cleburne. We did have plans to eat anywhere but came across this gem of a place walking around and taking in the sights. Wow! Were we surprised when they brought out the food. Look at the serving size We both ordered carne guisada. I ordered nopales on top that added an extra flare to the palate. As you can see, it’s enough for two. So if you go with a friend, family, or date, and want the same thing, I would suggest ordering one plate with extra sides.

This will be the third El Mexicano restaurant that I’ve visited. The one in waxahachie being the best, and while the food here appeared to be decent, the service was terrible. Front the moment, we walked in my wife, and I waited over 10 minutes to be seated while a young man and a waitress behind the counter laughed and visited rather than take care of customers. Then we were seated and drink orders were taken and it took forever for our drinks to arrive. And we ordered and our food took forever and there was 6 people in our party and everyone’s food arrived at different times, some dishes arrived up to 10 to 20 minutes apart and the dishes were piling up on the table and the waitress never even bothered to remove the piling dishes. And tea refills were far and few in between, I mean very far. I do not eat out to be inconvenienced or ignored. El Mexicano has proven to be the biggest disappointment to date where dinning out is concerned. I definitely believe in giving credit where credit is due and by the same token giving just reviews. I wouldn’t recommend this restaurant to anyone. It’s a complete waste of money.

It seems like this is an unpopular opinion, but we prefer this location over the downtown Waxahachie location. Yes, the food is slightly different at each location. The bar drinks here are always excellent. We get the steak fajitas here often and they’re great. it’s enough food for 2 adults to eat and take home leftover for each person to have another meal.

Worst nachos I’ve ever had. The free chips were better. No queso. Just a little shredded cheese and a teaspoon of refried beans on some hard shells for $8. The fajita nachos were almost as bad. Horrible service.

I went here with my mom. The salsa was underwhelming, but initially everything seemed alright. It appeared only one waitress working, but there was only a few customers at the time. She wasn’t very attentive. My mom was eating her charro beans and spit out a piece of a chain!!! The waitress took the chain link into the kitchen and disappeared for quite some time. She came back later and said it didn’t come from the kitchen. Hilarious! SMH. They gave us $5 off our meal. To admit no fault and deny it was crazy. They brought the plate from the kitchen! Why not apologize!

Great Tex Mex! The best fajita meat we have ever eaten. The egg batter on the relleno is fluffy and delicious. The ground beef is really good too. We have not found anything here that is not amazing. Service was fast. Food was really hot.

Walked in with my daughter was told sit down where ever u like so we did had an extremely rude lady come up and ask us what we’d like to drink my daughter asked for water I asked for a pina colada the lady automatically went off raised her voice n spoke extremely disrespectfully I can not do that we don’t have a bartender we are so short staffed today we don’t have this we don’t have that.. all the while smacking her hands together very aggressively. So I replied I understand but none of that is my fault and not my business. She stormed off and screamed at me from across the building if you don’t like u can talk to the manager! Me and my daughter sat for a moment completely dumbfounded as too what just happened. The most bizarre situation I’ve ever encountered at any establishment and I’m beyond disappointed and almost lost of words to say. I get they where short staffed and stuff was going on but you can’t walk up to costumer’s noticeably aggravated flustered and mad and take it out on costumer’s who have nothing to do with anything that’s going on in the restaurant I don’t work there and me and my daughter did not deserve that lady’s frustration. Very hurtful and disappointed with our experience here.
