I’ve always loved El Mocho’s been eating here for many many years. My parents lived next to the restaurant and evey time I’d come home this was my go to for Great Cuban food. Great home cooked tasty food, I always forget to take photos of my Cuban Mix orders that’s because I can’t wait to sink my teeth into them. If they are not open when I make it down there I’m there the next morning for breakfast then lunch. I’m always so excited to get my food I keep forgetting to get me a shirt. My new favorite place in lower keys. I originally stopped in for a Cuban mix on way to airport, as soon as it was handed to me it felt heavy in my hand, I ate half on way to airport and it is if not the best, one of the best I’ve ever had. I have been back 3 times, trying a ribs special, fried porkchops, and a pork stew. All were excellent! To get this quality of food at these prices is rare anywhere, much less the lower keys! No pretenses, fancy menus, or pompousness here, just great food. Every time the same gentleman was at the counter, the owner I believe, he was friendly and answered any questions.

Food was very good for the price point but overall the meat is a poor quality… The side dishes and everything else was very good… The price is cheap for key West. So I understand the quality of meat… But it was flavorful. All the sides were wonderful!!! Just need better carne raise the prices!!!!

We wanted something local before getting to KeyWest, we had the Chicken and Beef empanadas, they were delicious tease homemade, we had the beef and ribs special, it tasted very well, over all great experience the server was very helpful also gave us some recommendations where to go in KeyWest.
