I have been here twice now and both times this place was packed yet my party and I were seated quickly and our drinks and order taken in a very reasonable amount of time. The portion sizes are phenomenal for the price you pay for a lot of their meals. The burrito tapatio is massive, I can only eat half in one sitting. My friend got beef fajitas and the meat was delivered to the table still in a cast iron pan still sizzling with a heat pad around the handle and a wooden tray under it. It was neat, and there was enough there to feed two people easily. The waitress was great and was very friendly! When you are first seated you are given authentic tortillas with salsa. I will be back for sure!

Your insane getting a #1 at any fast food place for $8-$9 tiny portions.entire plate full of delicious food..steak cimichanga,pico, lettuce,sour cream, guacamole,rice , refried beans,all covered in cheese sauce for $9.99..service extremely friendly. Hands down best Mexican food in Monticello. I know I’ve lived here 23years now and I’m Hispanic.

I thought if I even wanted to post my experience online but I feel as if my experience was unacceptable. Me and my family went to el tapatio because of all the good reviews it had. The food was mediocre. And the price I cannot recall but what was absolutely disgusting was the staff. My mother speaks little English to start. But we all speak fluent English and Spanish. She asked for the restroom in Spanish. And the girls just stared at her. She then pointed my mom which was fine. But she started mocking her in English. Saying “don’t speak to me in spanish” while the other girl laughed. I bit my tongue. Because I was raised to not bring myself to other people’s level.

I went and got my order and they gave me the wrong order. That’s fine, it happens. I went to take it back and get what I ordered and they said they didn’t have it. My daughter and I waited while they cooked it. They still forgot my cheese quesadilla and when I got home there was food all over the outside of the containers, sloppily put together. The refried beans were watery. Overall just not satisfied.

They are always cheerful and polite. It’s my go to for Mexican food in Monticello. Service is always quick. I love their guacamole and the portions are enough for 2 meals so I always have dinner and then a great lunch for the next day.
