Food was ok, but it took 25 minutes to come out and it was cold. It was authentic, but my friend from El salvador has made it so much better and he’s no cook. The place was clean and cozy, however the service was just ok, besides taking a long time, we were never asked how anything was and we had to wait a couple minutes both to order and to pay even though we were only one of 4 tables with people. I would say overall it’s ok but way overpriced.

Food was great and inexpensive. Will definitely be added to my list of hidden gems in the west part of the city. Excited to try the rest of their menu items. Pupusas are delicious thick corn tortillas stuffed with varieties of meats and or cheeses. Definitely recommended for anyone that wants to try and expand their food horizons.

I ordered pupusas and tamales and both were excellent. I love the plantain wrapped Salvadoran tamales. They tasted like they were cooked with fire or possibly on charcoal. Delicious! I will for sure recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for authentic Salvadoran food.

Seriously the most delicious pupusas. When we went, I think they only had two staff but we didn’t wait long for food. They may seem distant but they’re very nice people and the food is so worth it. The pupusas come out hot, a little crispy, and so good.

My visit to El Viroleño was an unfortunate disappointment. The lackluster pupusas, indifferent service, and uninspiring ambiance (little dirty) left me with a negative impression. I would strongly advise against dining there and suggest exploring other restaurants for a more satisfying and authentic Salvadorean culinary experience.

If you’re looking for Pupusas and El Salvadorian food in Salt Lake City , this is a decent place.Maybe they’re not the best Pupusas that you’ll ever try , but they’re good enough and they’re freshly handmade every day.I really like the Loroco one but the Chicken and Pork are very good too (specially the chicken one).Their Tamales are very good too , and I enjoy the Elote one due to its rich flavor.Their encurtidos for the Pupusas are good too.

Authentic Central American standards. Salvadoreñan pupusas with all the trimmings. Guatemalan tipica breakfasts with fried platanos and crema. Native Salvadoreñan soda Supercolashampan (tastes like bubble gum). Surrounding area looks dilapidated and outside it is painted a light orange hue, but that tells you the delicious treasure awaits you inside! Atol de élote (hot corn drink) will warm your soul and the thick tortillas will melt in your mouth as you use them to lap up your blended beans, seasoned perfectly! The sopa de res (beef soup) even had huisquil, a native squash! Give it a chance to be the different you seek. Natives & return-missionary approved!

Fair price on the pupusas and made to order. The maseca (cornmeal pastry) had an amazing texture that was way less stretchy and more crumbly than other pupusas I’ve had. Great sauce and chopped cabbage. Service was friendly and they speak English here if you’re worries about that. The horchata here is Mexican-style (rice based) instead of the Salvadoran-style (seed based). Your order will take a few minutes but it’s because they are making it fresh!! Do yourself a favor and get a tamale- incredible flavor and is cooked central American style in a banana leaf, not corn husk.

Not good at all I was craving pupusas and reason I went here cause the place I go was closed early on a Sunday. there’s hardly any filing in they’re dry with no taste not coming back and the lady that attended me was not welcoming bad service also.

Tasty food. Great service. Nice little quaint restaurant. Clean restaurant and restrooms. The location isn’t to hard to get to. Parking is a little tricky. I recommend trying this place for sure.
