Ember & Iron, a rustic American concept founded by Chef Michael and Brittany Cooney, takes a primitive approach to culinary execution. Our team of skilled chefs utilize seasonal ingredients and live-fire techniques over a towering 8 foot oak-burning grill. An idea that originates with camp-fire cooking, Ember & Iron represents a close gathering of loved ones surrounding the warmth of a fire where the quality of each ingredient shines through in every dish. As we merge modern plates with a nostalgic atmosphere, our skilled and hospitable team will evoke warmth and happiness the moment you step through the doors.

Enjoyed dining here after hearing many good things about them. The hype was up to par.

Excellent local spot with great food and service. Had lunch here this past Father’s Day. It was my first time, but most certainly not my last time eating here. The staff was great and the food was fantastic. The shrimp and grits that I had were easily top two I’ve had. The only slight negative it’s location, but there is plenty of parking.

Ember & Iron never disappoints. One of the few local restaurants you can go for a date night or casual dining with family and friends or to celebrate something and have a great experience everytime. Owners are constantly there and approach the tables and see how everyone is doing and if they are happy with the food and service and the menu has a little of everything. And they are all uniquely prepared with that open fire grill. Do not hesitate to try it if you haven’t. They also accept reservations and are very accommodating to larger parties.

Kudos to the chef on the food! It was our first time here and I have to say, the food was outstanding. The quality and quantity of food was excellent. Starting with Mediterranean appetizer of the day, the taste was exceptional! It was a unique change and full of flavor! Highly recommend you try it. The beet salad was also a burst of flavor, sweet, salty, and savory! I had the New York strip entree and it too was cooked to perfection, but, if anything bad is to be said, it was a little salty. The mashed potatoes were delicious and the mixed veggies delicious but, could the green beans could have been cooked just a tad more. They have a full bar and a decent selection of wines. Don’t expect to leave here hungry! Also bring your wallet!! Reservations highly recommended.

Walked into this place after a long while as we did not have a great experience last visit. Well it was actually horrible on many levels. Was immediately hit with the high noise level and was thinking oh boy.. here we go. Well I am happy to say that was where any disappointment ended! The hostess accommodated us with a request to change our seats from patio to inside with no hesitation at all. We got the best seat in the house! Our server was fantastic.. patient and knowledgeable on the menu and spot in with recommendations. Our drinks arrived in a timely manner and service was perfectly paced. We laughed… we ate.. then we ate more. Great selections of bourbons and whiskeys as well as wines and cocktails. My suggested entree of seared Scottish salmon was beautifully prepared and I was able to switch the rice for these crispy tasty potatoes. The best surprise was this cashew basil pesto .. it paired fantastically with everything.. honestly I could probably eat it plain! Roasted veggies had green beans and Brussel sprouts.. such a nice change from squash and zucchini for sure. Price point matches everything we ate and experienced. Noise level was fine once we sat down. Can’t wait to go back and try more dishes now. This girl is a converted fan for sure!

This place is incredible for a well-rounded dining experience. I went with my best friend for a girls’ night out. We ordered several appetizers – the blue cheese chips, beef tartare, crabcakes, and their nightly special – gator tail. To say the food was outstanding is an understatement. Each appetizer brought its individuality and uniqueness for a refreshing experience.

Where do I begin. At first glance it appears as just another run of the mill strip mall dining establishment however, don’t be fooled. Inside these walls there is some top level culinary creations being skillfully prepared. The Owners Michael and Britt , GM David and the rest of the staff are always out on the floor checking on tables and connecting with guests. Been here three times (dinner, anniversary and parents anniversary) and each time is better than the last. The elk chop…. Best I’ve had this side of the Mississippi river! Scallops and whole Fish are perfectly prepared, Oysters were fresh and delicious any way you choose to get them. For dessert get the bread pudding and a shot of baileys then pour it over the top. Thank me later. From drinks to dessert this place will not disappoint!!

Food was ok. The price I believe is not worth the flavor of the food. My sister ordered the scallops with risotto and the risotto wasn’t fully cooked. The chimichurri steak was good not great. The Whiskey selection was good but for the price for 2 oz I believe is a little over priced. Would I go again? Probably not, but had to try something different.

We have so many favorite restaurants in Jacksonville. This is a nice surprise in the heart of St John’s area. Beautiful atmosphere, fantastic mixology style drinks and food is always awesome and consistent. We love that they update specials. If you love crab filled crab cakes without a lot of breading, the crab cakes here are my fav! They outdoor seating so when the weather is nice, we always ask to sit out there. Check this place out, I think you will be pleasantly surprised. We will definitely continue to go back!

Silver fox and Blondie bar critics YouTube! We went to check out Ember and Iron and were greeted immediately when we entered the restaurant. We told the hostess we were going to sit at the bar and we could tell it was a very accommodating long spacious bar that could seat at least 30 people. I ordered the John Daly specialty drink which was delicious it had sweet tea lemonade and alcohol in it and was so good. My husband was happy that there was IPA beer. I ordered the chicken and two sides which were macaroni and cheese and the medley of vegetables. My favorite go to was the macaroni and cheese and the green beans carrots and some other unknown vegetable that were all cooked to perfection. The mac & cheese was so tasty and cheesy. I only had room for two or three bites of the chicken and found that it was very moist once my husband cut it for me so that I could eat it as it came in a huge body like as pictured.
