At an outdoor event in Wharton with friends. Pretty tasty. Plantains were correctly made and much better than a lot of Cuban restaurants I’ve been in.

We were at the Food Truck Festival in Passaic NJ and Empanada Guy was there. We recognize it on Beat Bobby Flay and it looked so good on TV so when we saw it at the festival we were so surprised. Now we had so much food already from the Festival so we only share one to get a taste. They had a whole list of empanadas on the menu but we decided to ordered their beef empanada. The ground beef filling was tender and juicy with rich and savory flavor. Don’t get us started with the fresh Sofrito giving us that wonderful slightly sweet and tangy taste.

My wife and I had their chicken, beef, guava, and apple empanadas. They were all delicious and the best empanadas we ever had. I met the owner of the brand at the restaurant today and he is awesome. His vibrant energy and passion for his craft and restaurant shows. It was a honor to meet him and talk with him for a bit. We will be back again. Empanada Guy empanadas are the best ever.

Most festivals have become food truck heaven, and when the New Jersey Devils fan fest included the Empanada Guy I was ready for some flavor. I ordered beef empanadas, and they were even better than I had remembered. Flaky on the outside, and the beef was outrageous. These were delicious. I did not realize he has a restaurant, which will prevent my becoming an empanada food truck groupie.

Got some empanadas at Oceanfest. They were hot and crunchy and seasoned well (not bland). But they were a bit sweet for my taste. I prefer less sweet and more spice.

I ordered white rice beans, and the rice that was given to me was very soggy and wet. Worst part is that he made it in an pressure cooker. If this is a restaurant you think he would cook the rice fresh like a real cook would on stove. I told him to give me Amarillos and he said Maduros. I told him they are called Amarillos. And for the record it is an Empandilla NOT an Empanada. Look it up.

What happened to this place? Can’t get gold of anyone and the restaurant is always closed during their posted “open” hours. Don’t waste your time unless you can get confirmation they’re open.

Sorry, for what they charge this food was not good. Very salty and greasy no taste. Not authentic whatsoever. Eat at your discretion!

There was a glitch in the “Matrix.” The store was closed and the online system took my order anyway. While on the phone, I ran into the owner. After I explained what happened, he tried to refund me out of his own pocket. He then went into the store and gave me Par-fried empanadas. I live 25 minutes away. They were better and hot cooked at home. It was a good compromise. He still has my business!

Food is amazing and the guy who helps you is kind and friendly! Looks a little sus from the outside, but that’s on the people who own the building. I’ll keep going back
