We came to visit from Memphis,TN and have already been to this coffee shop twice in the last few days of our visit. The owners are such lovely people and the atmosphere is very nice and friendly. We loved the turn table that played the records in the back room. The waffles were delicious and a good size. Highly recommended!!

The coffee and food are worth your stop, but what is great about Encounter Cafe is it represents everything great about small town America. As a Converse resident, I can’t tell you how thrilled I am to have the convenience and quality of an establishment like Encounter Cafe so close. The money I save from not driving to Marion or Kokomo to get a decent coffee nets me an extra for free. Not to mention the 30+ minutes of life I get back from the commute. Cheers Encounter! BTW, vanilla carmel latte is a winner.
