I recently visited this restaurant with high hopes for an authentic Iraqi dining experience, but unfortunately, it turned out to be a major disappointment. The quality of the food was subpar across the board. The meat, the rice, everything lacked flavor and was dry and unappetizing. The only saving grace was the bread, which was the only item that had any taste.

I chose Erbil to cater for my birthday, and I can confidently say it was a phenomenal experience from start to finish! The food provided was nothing short of incredible, with each dish bursting with flavor and crafted to perfection. The chef’s expertise truly shone through in every bite.

I went to Erbil Kabob for lunch but the place had a different name. I ordered some shawarma and kabob. The shawarma was burnt and nasty. The kabob was burnt as well but the inside wasn’t cooked. The rice was horribly nasty and had hair in it. I don’t understand how this restaurant is open. Service was absolutely horrible. We didn’t even have any drinks brought to us. Stay away. We told the guy who served us that we were unhappy with the food and he got mad. I have never been to a place this horrible.

The new restaurant’s owner is great. I’ve been going there twice now and the quality of food is worth every penny. I definitely will be back for the fresh Iraqi bread and samoon taste so authentic. The main dish is a lot of food for one person, specifically, the teshreeb shawarma. Overall, give it a try if you’re craving a Middle Eastern food.

My first time trying Iraqi kabobs and they were delicious. My friend and I both had the mixed kabob platter ( Iraqi style) and were pleased. Will definitely be back with the family!

I generally do not write reviews, but this was an accidental find. The hoardings still say, “Ishtar Hookah/Kabob” and Google says that’s permanently closed.
