I finally tried this place after hearing about it constantly since they opened. Eugene’s happy hour menu is one of the better ones in the River Oaks area. Fresh Gulf Oysters on the half shell are $1.25 a piece. Half a dozen is only $7.50 and a dozen is $15. The oysters were very fresh and plump.

I was not happy at all with my choice of the BBQ shrimp. It wasn’t anything like I expected.

One of Houston’s best restaurants by far and definitely Michelin star worthy. Everything was excellent, and the owner even came by to chat for a few minutes. My sole criticism is that the service needs improvement. Servers need to carry crumb scrapers (we had crab claws with crunchy garlic bread to sop up the heavenly sauce, but the crust was messy) and attend to the tidyness of the tables better. We had to clean up the mess ourselves and ask for new napkins. Also had our waiter forget to bring a glass of wine when he wasn’t doing anything but talking to another waiter. Overall, GREAT experience worth every dollar! Don’t forget to try the sweet potatoes. You’ll be glad you did!

This was the first time at Eugene’s Gulf Coast Cuisine. Come early as parking is hard to find. However they do offer valet. I don’t know the price. As we walked in we were greeted with a warm welcome from the hostess. We did have reservations and strongly recommend making reservations beforehand. The deco was really nice and very open. The staff was kind and hospitable. The food was amazing, it’s a restaurant I would definitely come time and time again to try different things on their menu.

Waze introduced me to Eugene’s. After driving by during heavy traffic and reading the Google Reviews, I had to give it a try.

When you first walk in, you are welcomed by encapsulating music and the sound of conversations happening around the room. Then the hostess welcomes you and takes you to your table where you can’t help but notice how you are captured by the ambience of the restaurant. It sets the mood for a relaxing meal with friends or family as you can tell you will not be rushed.

Solid spot for seafood – think Pappadeaux’s but better. There are a few non-seafood options but I would recommend stick with seafood as that’s what they do best. The oysters are a must try and for dessert, definitely try BUDDY’S CHOCOLATE CAKE.

I was very surprised when I walked into the restaurant. The surrounding neighborhood seemed pretty basic but inside the restaurant was classy and elegant, but welcoming to us (dressed in shorts and t-shirts). The staff was very friendly and efficient. The prices were fair based on what you receive for food. As a table, we ordered fried catfish, stuffed shrimp, boudin balls, gumbo, scallops, dirty rice, rice & sausage and tomato & okra stew. EVERYTHING was good! My favorite was definitely the fried catfish. I am now a fan of this place and will come back when I visit Houston again! ☆☆☆☆☆

Eugene’s is a classic environment. Their services is good it was very quite on a Saturday evening. Their oysters were really good and fresh. We tried the crab cakes shrimp and grits and stuffed shrimp. The crab cakes are OK, nothing fancy. The shrimp and grits were different not my favorite but one of the others in our group loved it. The stuffed shrimp is amazing. It is a little pricey for the serving size but you pay for the ambiance. Over all I’ll definitely be returning oh there is also a Saturday happy hour. Eugene’s is good.
