Our Japanese-Inspired restaurant was born out of necessity in the east village (Evil is “East Village” abbreviated). The three of us-Chris, Hai, and Asher-met while working at a Michelin starred restaurant, where we solidified our bond (Chris and Hai even got married). It was also around then we developed our love for Japanese food and high quality meals. After finding ourselves without jobs due to Covid, we decided to take the plunge and start our very own restaurant, so here we are!
Compact spot with outdoor seating serving breaded meat, soba noodles & other Japanese comfort food. Based on 215 reviews, the restaurant has received a rating of 4.7 stars. Price $$

I ordered the pork curry bowl and it was delicious. The breading was crispy, the meat tender and the flavors balanced with spice and savory notes.

I have no idea what the other reviews r raving about.. i’ve had amazing and authentic sandos before for much cheaper and much tastier; a good chicken katsu has a more interesting sauce, while this was more bland.

Man oh man, do they give you a massive piece of perfectly fried chicken katsu or what. The chicken katsu is cooked perfectly and has that great flavor to it! I got the bento box and I had the cucumbers which were spicy and were in a nice sauce. The edamames were cooked great and tasted good. The only thing I wish is that I had a bit more rice to balance the meat to rice ratio. My family got the chicken katsu sandwich and said that was good too. The inside is super small and can only fit 6 people at max, it’s definitely a to-go place.

Tiny portion for $19. I had to buy a second lunch after eating this tiny katsu. Look how empty this bowl is. I feel like there should be at least more rice and curry.

Excellent Katsu. We enjoyed the sandwich and the curry. Food is cooked with care, inside stool seating was clean and no wait for seating on a late Friday pm. I only wish the sauce price was included in the sandwich. Staff is friendly. Enjoy!

This is my second time here and I got the chicken sando and it’s really good! Greta crisp on the chicken but the sandwich itself is entirely too big lol I wish I could cut it in half.

I’m not really one to go outside my comfort zone with foods so I got the chicken sando but took all of the veggies off, still delicious. But the WINGS…they let me try two of the wings (idk the flavor) but omg Im coming back just for those.

Wonderful flavors which pays respect to the essence of Katsu and what it means to eat comfort food. The team of chefs have poured their heart and souls into these dishes wish I truly respect, from the quality of ingredients and presentation to the friendly team. The fun quaint space shows their humble origins from pop ups success of Japanese enthusiasts. We will be back guaranteed.
