We read other reviews first and either the issues have been resolved, or we came on a good night. We didn’t have to wait long at all for our food, despite that it was obvious they were busy with carry-out orders. The service was perfect other than one slight issue when we received an appetizer, but no small plates for us to use. Likewise, the food was excellent, and unlike some complaints, the portions were huge (had to take leftovers home). We had fufu, okra with goat meat, and mackerel with rice and plantain. Some of the flavors were unlike anything we’d ever tasted, especially the rice. The ginger drink was great. We thought the prices were appropriate for what we received. We’ll be back.

I decided to try this spot for a quick lunch and everything was perfect. The dining area is clean and the service is courteous and pleasant. There is a lot I don’t know about West African cuisine and their ample menu means I will have to go back more often to try different dishes. I chose the Shrimp Kebab and Fried Spinach with Beef and knew when my food arrived it would be very good. Everything was made fresh with a range of flavors and spices that was complex without being fussy. My favorite thing about what I ordered was the chili sauce served with the shrimp. Amazing. I will be going back and taking friends and family with me as well. I hope this wonderful restaurant becomes a Kansas City favorite for years to come.

I’ll start off by saying the food is not bad however I would never come here again. The food portion was very little. I paid over 25 dollars for some rice stew and plantain and I wasn’t given the plantain.

Very good food. Took a long time to get food but it was fresh. I ordered a drink 3 times with 3 different servers and never received it which was disappointing but I had water.

Reading the most recent review: I’m truly flabbergasted anyone can spend $50-100 per person here and not be rolled out in a wheelchair due to food coma.

I saw many reviews about this place being slow but food being amazing, and my sister and I had time to kill so we decided to go for it. We were not disappointed! We got the fried rice with chicken and then the banku, I believe. We really wanted to try the peanut butter soup and a couple other things but those are only served at dinner.

I’ve been coming here for a few years and I always spend over $150. They are a unique restaurant and there’s not any other restaurant serving West African cuisine so I try to patronize it and ignore the flaws in service. But the last couple of times I’ve come the food has tasted burnt and lots of palm oil inside to where I have to drain my soup before I eat.

While the food is absolutely delicious, as noted in other reviews, the service is EXTREMELY slow. We got our appetizers within 15 minutes, but our main entree did not arrive until an hour after we had ordered. Fortunately, the restaurant made an appropriate price adjustment to make up for the long wait. I otherwise loved the jollof rice, plantains, and peanut curry. Just be warned to expect a long wait, even if you put in your order to go.

We LOVED eating here! Portion size? 100% Taste 10000% Everything was 100%. Bummed that it’s hours away but so so worth the drive. Will be dining here again when we drive through this part of town! Everyone was friendly to us, too!!
