I am a long time member of Tower Hill and have seen cafe vendors come and go. This latest iteration is the worst: looks like cafeteria style but is ordering at a cash register, small portions of meh sandwiches at premium prices, $9. for a can of beer, buzzers so YOU can pick up the food, tiny bags chips (.5 oz), and I know this will cause a ruckus – country music to accompany your pricey food. I’ve been to a few very nice botanical gardens around this country and I’ve never heard country music at their cafes- until now. NEBG needs to have a chat with this vendor.

What happened?! There used to be great food with healthy options. Tonight had only hot dogs, Pretzels, etc. No salad, bowls, sandwiches or soup so my wife had to sit the meal out.

My first visit here in late 2016 was great. Excellent salad and decent service. I took a friend a few months later, and it was not so great. Service was minimally attentive, so it took a while to send back the lukewarm soup I was served. A replacement soup was delivered and the waitress disappeared again, so it took a while to send back the second serving of lukewarm soup. You might think someone would have checked the temperature the second time, but no. Not wanting food poisoning, the second serving got sent back and there was no third. Had a flat bread pizza that was good but not great. My dining companion had a grilled cheese with bacon, which looked fine but at $10 for a slightly dressed up grilled cheese, served with absolutely nothing else, not even a few greens, it seemed overpriced. Maybe this place needs an inspection. They aren’t keeping food at safe temperatures, based on my experience.

Ridiculously overpriced, low quality food with a very small selection. Basically school lunch cafeteria style food. Got a teeny tiny grilled cheese that didn’t taste good and it was $15. Going to brown bag it next time, this place wasn’t worth all the money we spent.

It wasn’t easy to get a table here on a Saturday, but if you wait until around 2:30, it becomes much easier to get a great meal here. The service was warm and the sandwich options have fresh ingredients. There are also some decent beer & cider options here (cans or bottles).

I used to love going to lunch here where there was actually service and a pretty good meal. Yesterday, I went with a few friends and expected a great meal once more and was greatly disappointed. They’ve changed the concept to more cafeteria style with a focus on salad bowls. I had to return one salad bowl as the brown rice they used was crunchy (undercooked). I tried the Quinoa bowl and the Quinoa was also undercooked and crunchy. This concept is an abominable attempt at serving food and the price was too high…actually any price would have been too high with the gross food!

I am a member of Tower Hill and it is sad for me to write this review of this eatery.

Whilst Tower Hill is a very attractive and artistic place to visit, I found the Farmer And The Fork unexpectedly underwhelming. It’s a cafeteria-style café without much decor that charges sit-down restaurant prices. Granted, as it’s name implies, the food is all locally sourced and “farm to table,” so I would expect to pay a bit more. We had two small muffins and two cups of hot cocoa (one with schnapps) that topped $25.00! The muffins were nice, but small, and not noticably better than what I can buy in my supermarket’s bakery. I suppose I would give this rating more stars if I tried the salads and entrees; but then I’d have to bring extra cash.

As member s at THBG we loved walking around with our son and getting a quick locally sources lunch. No more. The cafeteria concept is abyssmal. The “grilled” cheese was clearly microwaved, the bread was still soft. They gave some of our food to someone else in line and we had to jockey for position to get replacement food. Never again. We now bring a picnic lunch with us when we go.

Very odd Cafe. My wife and I asked for a table for two indoors and was told that it was a 15 – 20 minute wait. However, two couples in front of us got indoor seating immediately. I ask the hostess about this and she said they were members. So, we left and found a wonderful place for lunch down the street.
