Great BBQ on east side of Dayton! It’s a small family spot with limited seating to dine-in, but they seem to do a fair bit of carry out and catering. Meats are smoked fresh low and slow meaning some days they are sold of one thing or another. I’m a firm believer that this fresh approach is the best. It’s also made me try other things on their menu. Each item stands out to me as being excellent or at least very well executed. For example, even on the basic BBQ pulled pork sandwich I pictured – they properly seasoned the meat so that it has some great flavor even without BBQ sauce. It’s a Smokey meat forward approach and I find it outstanding. Their ribs are done just right where bones pull away easily but there is still a good “chew” to the meat. And if you like sauces and sides – you simply can’t go wrong – sweet or heat, potatoes or green beans – they have it all here. Try topping the meal off with their banana pudding if you have a sweet tooth. The only disappointment at Fatback’s is when you’re too full to keep eating and enjoying!

The food is delicious! Ribs and potatoes are great. Best ribs in the Dayton area, tender. moist and covered with a generous amount of BBQ sauce. Great variety of BBQ sauces. Fast friendly service. Only wish they were open more hours. The restaurant has pig decorations everywhere.

Fantastic all around! I ordered the pulled pork sandwich with the sweet & warm sauce, coleslaw, potato salad, and cornbread. My food was in front of me almost instantly. The pork was delicious and paired great with the sauce, which was up to par with the Kansas City sauces I love. The coleslaw has room for improvement, but the potato salad was heavenly and the cornbread was a perfect finisher.

Fast and friendly service. They gave me a bowl of fat with my meat just as I asked. Absolutely delicious!! City BBQ has dethroned and Fat Backs is my new favorite BBQ in Dayton.

Wow! Their brisket is the best I’ve had in years, and the baked beans were outstanding. If you think some of those chain barbecue places are good, you really need to try this place. Staff was very friendly and made me feel like a friend. I will be back, and I will bring some friends!

Green beans need more seasoning beans over cooked and the mack and cheese was watery not the best sides. I recommend mixing the Carolina vinegar sauce and the hot bbq sauce on the pulled pork. I got the pulled pork sandwich wife got the pulled chicken sandwich. I will be going back to try other dishes. The pork and chicken was much better than City Barbecue. The sides were the things I didn’t like. Great customer service friendly staff and a nice atmosphere.

Awesome food. We had ribs and they were melt in your mouth fantastic. Our sides were baked beans and Mac and cheese. The Mac was very creamy and had a smoky flavor. The beans were also very yummy. Corn bread came with the meal and it also was excellent. Glad we found this fantastic BBQ place.

Ordered the brisket sandwich platter. Brisket was tender, juicy, and delicious. Warm and sweet BBQ sauce had a great balance of spice and sweet. Mac and cheese was good and creamy but pretty standard. Green beans w/ham was savory and yummy. And you get a pickle spear ta boot. Will definitely be back!
