I rarely give out 5’s but this restuarant fulfills all my requirements. I enjoy soft cooked eggs, and they cooked them perfectly. Friendly service, thank you Mary Jo, really good breakfast, and homespun ambiance!

Such an amazing “Mom & Pop” place. EVERYTHING is made from scratch. From the slicer of bread with the dinner, to the real mashed potatoes and gravy, to the salads, sides and don’t forget deserts – pie cobbler….so yummy You can taste that everything is made with love.

Great little cafe with good food at an affordable price. For five of us with the total was just over $40. The only real drawback is they do not accept credit or debit cards and I’m not sure if they accept checks.

Stopped in on Aug 21, 2017 and was pleasantly surprised on the cleanliness and efficient little set-up they have. We went with the buffet. It was better than most 3 and 4 star restaurants I’ve been to throughout the states. If you’re in the area it’s worth the trip.

It’s nice to see commerce return to what was once the business district of this tiny Central Illinois village. The Feed Store, located at 316 Main Street in Maquon, does just that. The restaurant exudes small town hospitality and charm. The staff is exceptionally friendly and courteous. The food is old fashioned, home cooked goodness. You can order off the menu or choose from one of their daily specials. On my last visit I chose the meat loaf special which came with either mashed potatoes and gravy or cheesy potatoes, corn, one side, and a slice of fresh baked whole wheat bread. The meat loaf was moist and flavorful. I chose the cheesy potatoes which were quite good. My side was creamy cole slaw which was excellent (hand-made fresh, not a commercially prepared concoction scooped out of a container). I splurged and ordered a piece of coconut cream pie which was fresh baked and also outstanding. All the items were made fresh in house and the quality showed.. Even the black coffee was better than the usual restaurant variety. The food and service were so exemplary that I would rate the total experience six stars if I could. I will definitely be back and highly recommend the Feed Store for good hometown cooking and service.
