Shrimp with the sticky sauce was absolutely delicious.. The mac and cheese was great, and the candy yams were classic .. The owners were very chill, and you can tell they enjoyed the magic they make happen in that restaurant. My business partner had the fried chicken and said it was perfect. This is a hidden gem.. Go get you some real soul food Avenel.. We will definitely be back.

I finally got a chance to try this place out and my goodness is it an absolute gem! I came later in the afternoon when several items were sold out (always a key indicator of some next level amazing food). I ended up getting some jerk wings, Mac n cheese and greens. Food was so fresh and flavorful. I destroyed the take out tray lol. 100% will be making regular trips back to try their other offerings. Make sure to check out their business hours and try getting there early!

I never really order red snapper other than fresh in Puerto Rico but this one was delicious! Had a side of the Rasta pasta (spicy) and the candied yams. The candied yams were excellent. My wife had the wings and Mac and cheese and that was really good too. Definitely recommend to get the red snapper!

My first time here, and I really enjoyed it! This gave me real soul food vibes like I was back in the South! I tried the whiting platter with the Mac and cheese and green beans. The fish was cooked exactly the way that I love it, firm but not overcooked! The Mac and cheese was made with a great homemade cheese sauce, and it wasn’t over the top like some soul food restaurant offerings. The green beans were well seasoned and full of garlic. Again, it was just the way that I love them! Also, I tried the wings with the homemade garlic parmesan sauce, and they were worth the drive alone! I highly recommend this food for those who love soul food the way that I do, and I’ll definitely visit again when I’m in the area!!
