Year in, year out, this place is awesome. I happen to order ‘The New Yorker’ this time, but over the last 30+ years, I’ve tried just about everything on the menu. A great deli in the heart of Fairfield. Parking can be a bit tricky at times, but got lucky today. Inside and outside seating. You will not be disappointed.

In all fairness, I have only had one sandwich from Firehouse, so this review is strictly based on this order. The pastrami Reuben was awful. The meat was dry and the bread stale. I was expecting a New York style Reuben heaping with juicy pastrami on fresh rye. This was not that sandwich.

So I went here for lunch for the first time with friends and I was disappointed. I know it’s a popular place, but it was way too crowded. I waited in a long line for a not so great sandwich. I got the healthy wrap and it was just ok, didn’t really have any flavor. Also I thought the prices were high. I’m sure it’s a good deli, cute atmosphere, but I wasn’t really impressed as a whole. I probably won’t return.

Tasty with quick service. You order, pay and then wait for your food. Indoor and outdoor seating.

I got a western omelet that tasted great with fries. The omelet was cheesy and cooked to perfection but the wait time for the fries was extremely long given the Memorial Day parade was moments away and crossing the street was nesscary for me to get to my family.

Great sandwiches and salad bar are their staple. Over the years they have fine tuned their interior and even exterior patio area to make it more accommodating to a large amount of people. It is a must got to for a summer day in Fairfield to sit out and view the green with all the people bustling about going to the shops and the beach

Food is delicious but there is no organization in the store. No clearly defined area to place an order, and the line to pay? Hah! Non-existent. Its a free for all among customers i called an order in 15 mins before my arrival and still had to wait 15 mins in line while walk in customers ahead of me paid. Missing my train as a result! You need to have CLEARLY DEFINED LINES ESPECIALLY FOR CALL IN ORDERS

This weekend I’m moving out of Fairfield, and I say with confidence that I will miss Firehouse Deli the most (and will visit as frequently as reasonably possible). Great food, kind and friendly people, excellent, fast service (even in strange times of Covid), and pickles… I hear the salads are amazing too (says my mother-in-law). I have two favorites on the menu that I probably shouldn’t get EVERY time, but then again, eat what you love. For breakfast, it’s the Alex’s Breakfast Panini, and for lunch, it’s the Harlem Shuffle.

Love this little place easy to get to call your order in and it’s always waiting for you when you get there.

Just pandemonium. You place your order at the far end of the counter and it is fulfilled at the front end where you also pay for it. Regardless of how many people are there it always seems so congested.
