This is my go to spot and I have always have excellent service and no complaints until tonight. I went in for a meal cause I didn’t want to deal with cooking or my 120 pound dog. When arriving in the restaurant a couple had a cat on a leash inside to dine in. Employees were in awe with the animal. It is disgusting. I would be totally fine if it was a service dog that opened doors and picked things off the floor, not a pet that a someone thinks they need to take everywhere. I left in disgust.

Went in the evening around 830 Sunday. Ordered a large hero , mac/cheese and pickle on the side. Got home and only the sandwich was in the bag. The bread was so wet that you had to eat the sandwich with a fork. Very tasty but hard to eat!

I was sad when the Merrillville Firehouse Subs closed. It’s good stuff. Hot tasty sandwiches and good soups. It’s along the line of a Quiznos, if those exist any longer. A big step up from Subway, but a similar concept. The atmosphere pays homage to firemen. A bit pricey a medium, soup and a drink topped $20.

I consider this the mountain top of sub places. Highly recommend trying this restaurant if you can. They also have a big selection of hit sauces. Is on the expensive side but goes towards a good cause. The cashiers are nice and attentive.

I really love their subs, but don’t be in a rush!!!! My son and I waited 20+mins for 2 small subs. We were the only two that placed an order and they took the lions share of time to make them. Aside from all that, I wish I had taken a pic of my sub. It looked horrible. It wasn’t even centered on the bread, and bread looked like they broke it in half. I’m so disappointed.

Went to the Portage, IN store. I ordered a Smoked Turkey sub which shows sliced turkey on the menu. I got home with a shredded turkey sub that seemed to have been sitting in water. The bread soaked up the excess moisture and the sandwich fell apart trying to eat it. I ended up using a fork to eat a sub sandwich. It was horrible for the price that was paid. Not going to be a returning customer.

Tonight was the first time my family and I have visited a Firehouse Subs. I must say, I was not disappointed! The food was too notch, the price was reasonable, the atmosphere was relaxed and fun, and the staff was great. I would highly recommend this establishment.
