Made it to this take out place just before closing. Thankfully they had one lobster roll and some clam chowder both were delicious. We also really enjoyed the haddock sandwich. Fresh and tasty. Go early to avoid disappointment.

My first three experiences with this place was great; all three were during the same stay in Maine. I left loving every item on the menu- from the juicy clam bites to the “just got caught” lobsters in my buttered roll. I came back from that trip swearing off all NY joints and raving to my friends about it.

This is the fist time ever posting, but could not resist after the experience I had. I was travelling to Maine to visit my kids at camp and searched best lobster rolls in Portland. Fisherman’s Grill came up, so I thought I would give it a try. Let me say, I am glad I did. The ride from Boston was over 3 hours with the traffic, so lets just say by the time I arrived I was agitated and hungry. I come to find out that they were closed. I tapped on the door, and it was open, and the owner Michael said they were closing as they were just about out of food. I told him about my trip and how I was looking forward to eating there. He invited me in and said that he might have enough for1 or 2 lobster rolls. I would come back just for the fact that he opened the door after he was closed !!

Excellent Lobster Roll. It cost about $23 for a Lobster roll and clam chowder, but it’s absolutely worth it. Overall the guys behind the counter have a great attitude, and even though it’s a bit pricey they give you your money’s worth.

Yes, the jumbo is a good deal if you split up the lobster into two rolls. Well, better deal anyway. The actual lobster is fresh and nice, though again, the taste isn’t necessarily the best in town. The seared scallops, though? Perfectly fried, though a bit salty.

I love this little hole in the wall. I got the Lobster Roll, which was a pretty classic take on it. Hot buttered bun and fresh lobster seasoned with salt and pepper, coated in warm butter… Yum!

It’s a hole in the wall that you might even accidentally drive past while looking for it because it’s not huge, but it’s absolutely the best seafood you will ever eat. I was a little skeptical about going there because it really looked super small (I wasn’t even sure if there were places to eat there – turns out there are a few tables), but the reviews were terrific and we weren’t looking for a “Ritz Carlton” type atmosphere. We just wanted some incredibly fresh and delicious seafood. I got the lobster roll (Connecticut Style – so served warm with butter on the side) and it was in fact the best lobster roll I’ve ever had in my entire life. I’ve had so many, but this one stands out as the best. It was PACKED with lobster, but the lobster was easily the freshest, most tender, and best tasting lobster I’ve had. It came on a perfectly grilled “hot dog” roll and sat on a bed of lettuce. It was extremely hard to eat, but that’s only because it’s overly packed with lobster. That did not seem like a problem to me! Drizzled the hot butter over it, and it was as close to heaven as I’m going to get. My GF got the award winning (we found this out via the award they have on the wall next to our table) Fish and Chips. She said it was the best Fish and Chips she’s ever had as well. I tried it, and I have to agree. There is something to be said for having seafood that was literally swimming in the ocean a few miles away just a day or two before. And that’s what this place serves up. And the owner, Mike, really took care of us. It was our first time there and I’m sure he knew that. But he took care of us like we were 20 year regulars. As we were throwing our trash away, he said “might want to hang on a second, I’m making something up for you guys”. We weren’t sure what it was, but based on the food we just had, we wanted to wait. About 4 minutes later he came out with a plate of fried dough bites covered in cinnamon and sugar. Not only was that a super kind gesture, it was absolutely delicious. We then ended up talking to Mike for about 15 minutes about Portland, the business, and his family. It was truly a GREAT experience. I’ve been to very fine dining restaurants in my life and I will tell you this, I’ve never had a better meal or experience at any of them. I couldn’t recommend this place more. Go in, ask for Mike, and tell him people are raving about him and his restaurant online!

The lobster rolls were run of the mill okay but not amazing -which made our meal way overpriced. The buns were good initially but they got so soggy that it was inedible before we were halfway done.
