Stopped in Stroud overnight, the young man who checked us into Hampton inn recommended it to us for dinner said it had great steaks and BBQ. Pulling in I questioned how a drive through place could have great steaks. I stand corrected on my thought. My husband ordered the sirloin steak (I think it was the cut, it was the 4th on the menu and had a photo of it on the menu as a highlight). I got the sliced brisket. Steak came out looking like it could be kinda stringy and chewy, but the looks were deceiving as it was WONDERFUL. I don’t know if it’s locally sorced Oklahoma beef or what, but Illinois beef does not taste like this. It was tender with a great char flavor, seasoning was good (didn’t need a1) even the fat (I know I’m wierd to eat some of the fat) had a great melt in your mouth flavor and texture. Hubby enjoyed the baked potato and our server was kind enough to bring my husband a new salad when he tried raspberry vinaigrette and found he doesn’t like it. My brisket was super tender, I thought it was going to be dry but I put it in my baked potato with some of the hot BBQ sauce they have and it was great. Both dishes were large enough that we shared to satisfy all cravings. We also got the blackberry cobbler with ice cream for dessert which was also wonderful and sharable. If you are in the area we highly recommend the stop. We did also buy their hot BBQ sauce to take home. Thanks for a great meal.

Toll booth guy recommended 5 Star… We went in at 3pm on a Tuesday. Place wasn’t busy (as expected). Food was exceptionally good. Ribs were fresh and tender, smoky and very very meaty. 14.99 for all you can eat ribs with sides was beyond a good deal, too good to pass up. Fried okra was excellent, baked potato was good. Middle of the afternoon can be a crapshoot for bbq, but everything was quite hot and crisp…not like microwaved, but straight off the pit.

We were advised that we were going to get an awesome meal here, so we made the 40 min. drive. The highlight of our visit was our waitress, Angel. She was extremely welcoming and put you at ease. The meal was nothing desirable. The mushrooms and catfish were both good, but the BBQ was dry, tough and cold. I wish I could have given a better review.

Wife and I stopped in while we were in Stroud. IT WAS AMAZING. The smell when you walk in immediately sets the stomach to rumble, typical cafe setting, not fancy but very clean and welcoming, everyone is greeted when they walked in. Jennifer, our server made us feel like we were regulars and put us at ease. We ate on Friday so I got the all you can eat catfish and sides, but we started with an appetizer of smoked chicken nachos which were very tasty. I had the loaded mashed potatoes and Mac & cheese. It was the best fried catfish I can remember having, perfectly fried tender and juicy inside, light and crisp outside. I don’t typically like hush puppies, but theirs were different from any I’ve had and were very good (I ate them both). My wife got the 8oz sirloin (it was really much bigger than that, 1″+ thick). She said it was the best steak she’s had (and she’s very finicky). It was cooked to order and she said it was very flavorful and seasoned. We both mentioned that we would have to come back on a Tuesday when it’s all you can eat ribs to try those, so Jennifer brought us a rib for free to try and see if we liked their ribs (WE DO!). This is why I love trying small hometown places. In general they treat you with value and make amazing food to order. Five Star is one of those places. I highly recommend driving as far as you need to to try this place. I know we’ll be back. Thank you so much for the outstanding hospitality and amazing fare!

Was absolutely fantastic! Hadn’t been in, in years since moving away stopped in when my son was on leave from the army with family, everything was great! Pork chops, southwest chicken, loaded baked potatoes, salad, dirty burger, mushroom Swiss burger, kids chicken strips, fried okra French fries lol everything was outstanding!!!

Awesome customer service is always incredibly important to me, I swear it makes all food taste better and this place did not disappoint. We ordered the burnt ends and they were AMAZING. Cool environment and awesome food. Very glad we ate here! In my opinion, pretty affordable for BBQ as well.

Food was good but waited more than 30 minutes and watched 5 families that came in after me and son, get there Food before us 2 of them were done and gone with new people at the table before we got our food. It was tasty, but really, after the rest of the experience, it almost didn’t matter! On the positive side, there was one waitress that was super sweet to us. She wasn’t really the one taking care of us, but she was sweet.

This is a great place to eat. The servers are very friendly and prompt. They take pride on being there when you need them and always watching to see what you need. The food is top-notch, it is tasty and hot when it’s supposed to be hot and cool when it should be. The restaurant is clean and pleasant to be in. I highly recommend it if you are ever in the Stroud area.
