Brought my son for his first active experience of eating Indian food. The waiter recommended the Chicken Tikka Masala or the Butter Chicken plus the Butter Naan or Garlic Cilantro Naan. We ended up with the Tikka and Garlic Naan. I suggested that he choose a veggie dish. Since he had already chosen the Paneer Pakora as an appetizer (uses chick pea flour for the breading), we went with the Daal instead of the Chana Masala. We both ordered the Chai Masala. I remembered near the end of the meal that I had asked for an order of raita which did not arrive. It turned out ok since we had opted for all the food to be mild spiciness. Everything was delicious. The server gave us more attention which suited my son; he had all his questions answered and felt comfortable with our final selections. Overall, a very sweet time with my boy.

I’m seeing more and more of these Himalayan restaurants popping up all over San Diego County and I love it! They’re all great, this one included. The amount of food you get for the price is fantastic and it always taste great. I’m hooked! Just remember when they ask you how spicy you want it on a scale of 1 to 10 ALWAYS say half of what you would normally order. I’m typically a 4 but tell them 2, maybe, I’m a big baby?? Enjoy!

Food is decent but the service is bad. We spend 60 dollars on food and they didn’t want to give us any sauce for the food. Made me argue with him about the extra sauce we asked for. Did not like the bad service.

We have been to the Flavor of Himalaya in San Marcos three times during lunch. First time the experience was tolerable. The food was mediocre because it was neither Indian nor Nepalese but worth one try. But, the worst part of the experience was the waiter. We think he is Pakistani or Bangladeshi. Not sure. He had a chip on his shoulder; seem to think he knows it all, and refused to accommodate any request of changes to the order. Also. talks too much. Overall, we thought it must be a one time bad luck or experience. We tipped 25 percent in hopes to change his attitude for the next time. Since we never give any restaurant bad review until we have given them a second or third chance, we decided to revisit.
