We had a reservation for a party of seven and were seated as soon as we arrived. Service was spot on and fast for each order. The scallops appetizer was served over a thick, creamy, cheesy sauce and was unbelievably delicious. The fried green tomatoes were crispy and served with big tasty shrimp. Everyone’s entree was great. The special was pompano with a corn summer succotash and it was popping with fresh flavor. Even had a bit of coconut in it. Cocktails are classic with Flying Melon’s original mixologist modern twist. The wine selection is large and reasonably priced. Highly recommend dinner here.

If you’re looking for fine dining with down to earth country appeal, this is the place. If it’s five people or more, they suggest reservations. Be ready to loosen the wallet a little, and feel good about it when the evening concludes. Flying Melon is a several course meal experience. The bar prepares well made mixed drinks. Fried green tomatoes on the apps list aren’t to be missed. Fresh seafood selections are favorites, though the filet mignon choices are also delectable. Find room for dessert. The key lime pie and chocolate torte are especially decadent. As befits such an establishment, staff goes out of the way to bring a memorable evening. Treat yourself to an unforgettable dining experience in an unforgettable place.

We had our reception here and it was everything we needed. The owner was a blessing and went above and beyond for us. Plus, the food was absolutely amazing, some of the best dishes I’ve ever had. This is the complete casual fine dining experience. The mix drink selection is amazing with a lot of variety. I cannot stress enough that everything on the menu is delightfully delicious. 11 people in my family sat and traded appetizers and entrees, we were all 100% satisfied. We have made it tradition to have a family dinner once a week while on vacation at this exceptional establishment. Cannot wait to come back again next year!

If I could give even more stars, I would! This restaurant is worth the 7 hr drive, the 1 hr ferry, and the 20 min walk it took to get there. The Fried Green Tomatoes are to die for, and the Flourless Chocolate Torte is over-the-top spectacular! Every meal is both beautiful and full of flavor. The waitress is attentive, and the folks who clear the table are on it. This is the singularly best thing about the entire OBX…and I’m not exaggerating!

Food was amazing. Service was exceptional! My husband ordered the sheep’s head that was incredibly cooked and I ordered the parmesan crusted Trigger fish. We kept eating each others dish because we couldn’t pick a favorite. Wine was presented in such a manor, I felt highly important to them. Highly recommend The Flying Melon!
