The food was ok, I was really hoping this would be a new spot of mine. I ordered the taco special with beef fajita (2 tacos for $5.99). Then I asked if they’d be street style, smaller, and she said yes so I asked it if could do 3, in which they said yes, so I did the third taco barbacoa, which I was charged $5.99 + $3.99 for the barbacoa, which was one taco more than the two total. I was disappointed to see this after the fact and never told it would be extra.

This is the first time that I found a place that makes really good chilaquiles verdes. We ordered them with chicken and an egg on the top they were delicious. If you like extra spicy, ask for their spicy salsa verde. From the moment we came in the service was great and the waitress was very attentive we’re definitely coming back.

It is an absolute tragedy that Fonda Santa Rosa is not on every food writer’s best of Mexican in Houston. A spectacular lunch today of mole enchiladas, chilaquiles, sopa Azteca, guacamole. Highly recommended.

My first time trying the tamales from this place and they were a thousand times better than dona teres. They’re small but flavorful and not dry.

If you like mole, you should definitely try their mole enchiladas they are fire!! Just the right sweet/spicy flavor.
