The Hippie’s Daughter
What a fun place in a downtown setting. Recommended by my brother-in-law. Looks like a dive from the outside but good atmosphere inside. Crazy pizza choices. I had the garlic and honey with alfredo sauce base. Since we were here for lunch, I ordered the special for $8.99. Slice of the day, salad and soda. My husband ordered The Iowan. It has Canadian bacon, bacon, corn, pulled pork, cheese and BBQ sauce. Definitely a great place to try.

Fong’s is a stand by. It’s always good and hits the spot. Not everything is my favorite, but they have such a wide and eclectic variety, there is definitely something for every one!

This is an incredibly fun place to eat! Had the Crab Rangoon and Kung Pao pizza and the egg roll cheese sticks. All delicious! Highly recommended! The staff was friendly and very helpful! Will definitely eat here again!

Fongs is by no means the best pizza place in Iowa or even Des Moines but they are a lot of fun and very gimmicky. Their fusion of Asian food and Pizza makes for a fun and different experience and their ‘Chinese Mozzarella Sticks’ are absolutely delicious. I love taking friends here as the food is tasty and it makes for a great talking point and leaves a lasting memory which in some ways is more important than the meal.

Dope idea to repurpose a former Chinese resto into a late night pizza spot and tiki bar., major points. They definitely pull it off with the decor and old school booths, and staff of coolsters ready to start a conversation you won’t have anywhere else. Is the pizza amazing? Yes, but mostly in the sense that it’s the successful fusion of two Americanized classics and not because it’s great Chinese or Italian food. Perfectly Des Moines.

This was a must stop and try while in Des Moines with the family. The best decision was to order and sit at the bar with a beer to take in the atmosphere. The staff was very nice, giving my son extra cherries in his pop. Our favorite ended up being the Dragon wings. The flavor was unlike anything I’ve tasted. The pizza had a very good crust and generous toppings. I wish we had ordered the Crab Rangoon pizza. I saw another patron with it on their table and I had order envy. I’ll have to go back and try it next time.

Holy. Cow. Order the Crab Rangoon pizza!!! I don’t like crab Rangoon, but this pizza was to die for!! We also got the General Tso’s pizza which was great too. The bartender was nice and had good conversation. The other servers were kind and personable. Doing the kamikaze shots with the helmets were also a fun and unique experience.

I ordered the crab rangoon pizza and it was pretty good. Not amazing, but it did taste like crab rangoon plus an Asian sweet and sour sauce and it was a pizza, so you can’t go wrong there. Service wasn’t great, but the place had a line out the door when I went because of march madness. The place is a total vibe, and I would highly recommend if you’re in Des Moines.

I followed this restaurant on social media for YEARS! I finally got to try the crab rangoon pizza. It wasn’t at all what I expected. The place itself is super small and I just happen to be in Des Moines St Patrick’s day and tried it. It was crazy packed wall to wall and super busy.

I think this is a very unique pizza place. Great italian pizza with an oriental twist. The crab Rangoon pizza is good but if your looking for a sweeter taste try the polynesian pizza. Both pizza crusts were thin and crispy. The resturant is cozy and clean with a friendly but busy staff.
