Maybe I choose the wrong dish because this place has great reviews. I’m sorry, I don’t get it. I had the Capellini Frankie’s, the pasta itself was good but the rest? Not so much. There may have been 10 capers max, not even 1 clove of garlic, chopped mint leaves??, no cheese, and waaay too many nasty canned black olives rather than good Mediterranean olives. Very odd combination of flavors. I ate some of the olives but look how many were left! The salad was nothing more than chopped iceberg lettuce and the house dressing is a watered-down tomato sauce. The rolls were okay, the cheesecake was okay, the wine not so good. And, one glass cost almost as much as the pasta. I could have bought a bottle for what they charged. Service was so-so. The waitress was busy but not very friendly. Oh well, you win some, you lose some.

The food here is incredible! I got the Frenkie’s Special Pasta. The sauce was very tasty and the blend of meat and vegetables was perfect. The bread was amazingly good. The service was excellent as well. You won’t go wrong eating here.

Great fried pickles and fried green tomatoes for an appetizers. Main food was ok nothing special. However our waitress was absolutely amazing!!!! She was very attentive to our needs and especially those with allergies to foods. She provided quick service and our drinks never got empty.

I ended up in Hillsboro for lunch and upon a recommendation from an associate went to Frenkie’s. I thought he told me the name of the restaurant was “Freakies” and that really peaked my interest. Luckily Google knew what I was looking for and sent me to Frenkie’s. I really enjoyed the downtown building it was in and spent my lunch wondering what it once was. At first I thought it was an old hotel lobby but later I saw they had an old walk in safe behind the bar and thought maybe it was an old bank lobby. It had low ceilings and I really enjoyed the ambiance of the restaurant. I had the chicken cordon bleu and was really excited since you don’t see this on many menus. I was a little bit disappointed when it arrived and it was just a slice of ham on breaded chicken cutlet with alfredo sauce and spaghetti. However, it tasted ok. It was a quality slice of ham, the chicken cutlet was large (really too large) and tasted good. I would have liked a more structured chicken cordon bleu dish and this was more like something I would have thrown together at home. The staff was friendly, the prices were reasonable and I would give it another try if I was in the area. The setting in an old Texas bank (or possible hotel) is worth the visit.

The place is very pleasing and a comfortable environment. The service was excellent, service was fast and the staff was great. The food was delicious and very filling, they don’t skimp on the servings size. We really enjoyed our dinner and give them a 5 star !

A staff member from our hotel recommended this place when we asked for Italian food. Stopped by and ordered 2 entrees for my wife and I. At 5pm on Sunday, only 2 tables (should’ve taken that as a clue) in dining room. Server was very nice. I ordered the Lasagna. It was 2 layers of Pasta with a small amount of sauce & melted mozzarella cheese on top. No meat or ricotta cheese that I could find and about 1/2″ high. While the sauce had a good flavor, calling this a Lasagna dinner is a joke! My wife ordered a Chicken Pasta with Spinach & Mushrooms in a Alfredo sauce. She loved the flavor with the Spinach & Mushrooms, but the chicken was extremely overcooked to the “chicken jerky” state. Would suggest just picking up a pizza!

Pretty good for a small town restaurant. If I’m in the area and want Italian food again, I’d come back. Service was good and the food is decent.

This was my second visit. My last visit was about 18 months age during the weekend dinner hour and was well executed dinner. Now that out of the way. What a fun cool place to have a good tasting Italian plate. The staff is very attentive to our group of 10 during a Saturday lunch. However I didn’t get a photo of eveyones plate I can say we ordered across the menu. It was well worth it to have drove 35 minutes to Hillsboro, Texas. For anyone traveling on I35 North or South take the extra time.ro drive downtown Hillsboro for a fast and very tasty bit.

Independently owned and operated. Generous portions and authentic food. The wait staff is not that friendly but we are talking Italian here. The owner is an amazing chef probably 85 to 90 percent consistent which is great for an independent.

Best restaurant in Hillsboro, always a nice place to eat. My wife got the Caesar’s salad to start (8), I got the tossed salad with house dressing (like Catalina) (4). Good, fresh, cold. We had the Stuffed Mushrooms (11) with fresh baked rolls – strange little mushrooms with something inside in a cream and butter sauce with some melty cheese – quite tasty. We split a large (16″) White Pizza (18) – good thin crust, good sauce, spinach, mushroom, tomatoes, maybe artichokes? Garlic not in big use here, but it’s not an issue. Maybe you can tell Frenkie’s doesn’t exactly send me, but I would easily go back, when next I am hungry in Hillsboro.
