The first experience was delightful. Vegan and vegetarian option available. The portion sizes enough for two people. Fresh and deliciously prepared to your order. I’d say one of the few places around Madison that offer healthy options for both lunch and dinner. Meat lovers will not be disappointed either. One note on the meat that they cut off the frozen large peace isn’t authentic. It is a mix of who knows what and frozen to be then reheated and trimmed off. The authentic cuisine in Mediterranean countries use large pieces of actually fresh or marinated meat. Not mixture of mystery meats from wholesalers.

Located in Greenway Station, this Greek restaurant is is a nice option for lunch. Located in one of the buildings, you have to pay attention when turning into the complex to find it in the row of storefronts. The interior was reasonably spacious and clean. The format was more or less a street food approach in which you walk up, order and customize your toppings and accompaniments.

When my husband and I get hungry for gyros meat we drive across town to Freska. Love the beef & lamb gyros meat on top of couscous, with a nice variety of always fresh toppings, and cup of lentil soup. Nice well balanced meal. And there’s usually smooth jazz or Greek music playing in the background, which adds to an all around enjoyable meal.

We’ve been to similar “build your own” style Mediterranean restaurants in other cities and in Canada, really enjoying the concept and of course the food. Being able to tweek the sides and sauces to ones own liking can make any meal spot on. Freska was no different with good food and helpful staff. We’ll be back next time we’re in the area.

I got the spinach pie platter with brown rice. I was not crazy about the spinach pie but the brown rice and salad were exceptional. My husband ordered the falafel plate with couscous. The falafel was so good! He enjoyed the couscous so much. I definitely want to return to try the gyros.

OM-YUM! Delicious, fresh, made to order delicious found in an unsuspecting strip mall. I ordered the falafel plate and the falafels were cooked to order. My friend had the steak plate and she said that it was cooked perfectly. In addition to the plates, we had stuffed grape leaves. The staff is very helpful and friendly.

Food was really good haven’t really tried much Mediterranean food so I was curious about the food here. I got the plate with chicken and lamb gyro and it was so yummy! Very healthy food option and at a reasonable price. The staff are also very kind and were happy to explain any of the food that I had no knowledge of. Overall great experience!
