Saw the name on Google maps and wanted some “soul food” without cooking it myself. So I go. The outside color of the building is nice. The inside sitting area is nice also. I got inside and was given a menu by the cashier. She informs me that they are out of beef stew and turkey. So I ordered fried chicken with white rice, mashed potatoes and Mac and cheese. I also ordered smothered chicken with white rice and the same sides. Mashed potatoes and Mac and cheese. The cashier tells me that I will live it and she will see me soon. So we get home, open the plates and are immediately surprised with how it looked.

I’ve ordered takeout from them lots of times and it’s always been delicious! The beef stew is great, the smothered pork chops are very tasty. Black eyed peas need to be cooked more and no vinegar.

The customer service was good but the food was not at all satisfying. The shrimp was fried very hard, like they used old grease & the fries were soggy and warmed up. I did not take a picture of the Mac n cheese or yams but they too were not pleasing. The yams tasted like it was poured into a pot out of the can warmed up. The Mac and cheese was hard and not seasoned and not good. I was really hoping to like it but the food was not good.

Very nice worker at the front! Wait was not bad at all! Food was not bad. Wasn’t use to so much vinegar in cabbage and cabbage had a kick of pepper to them, ox tails were not as tender as preferred for the amount we had to pay per tray, however they were seasoned well. Mac and cheese was not bad, corn bread was okay, yellow rice was good. We were in the area and had a taste for soul food so we decided to give it a try. Overall it was fair!

September 10, 2021. In the area for doctor appointment. We only eat local wherever we go. Most of the time, it’s off the beaten path, like this place. We travel a lot. You are greeted with a smile and your food is cooked to order. Worth the few minutes for my husband’s chicken to fry. Tasty and juicy. I got pork chops 2 ways, fried and smothered. Great gravy. We both chose okra and mac & cheese. Very yummy. No ‘vegan, gluten free, low fat’ stuff here. It’s the real deal if you want real food, cooked real good, the old fashioned way. Try it. You’ll love it. Very clean!

Had the smothered turkey wings, it was cooked perfectly. Really loved the food and the sister at the counter was beautiful and cool. I’m pretty sure I’m going to end up eating there every time I’m in Gainesville.

Came here today with my partner. I was really craving a fish sandwich and okra. They only have pork chop sandwiches on the menu but the staff made it happen for me. The food was seasoned incredibly well, fish and okra were fried perfectly. Can’t wait to try more items on the menu. My only complaint was the wait time. We were waiting for our food for quite some time but once it was in front of us, I was pleased. Also, no one really talks about this but the place is very clean and the restrooms are well kept. I appreciated that about this place. Thanks!

I ordered smoothered pork chop dinner. The food had no seasoning. I tossed the entire plate in the trash after tasting. And was extremely disappointed that someone would call a restaurant “Soul Food” and it lack key ingredients. If you’re not big on salt you can use onions, bell peppers and other ingredients along with some non salt seasoning. I will not be going here again. I was fooled by the 4 stars.

The seating inside seemed kind of weird but I got mine to go and it was pretty awesome. I got the pork chop sandwich. I recommend you to try it if you haven’t. I will be visiting them again to try something different.

I ordered the oxtail w/ yellow rice, cabbage, and Mac & Cheese. Long story short, they won’t see me again. Oxtail was salty AF! The yellow rice and cabbage were decent. The Mac & cheese was an absolute abomination. It was tasteless, cold, and the noodles had been overcooked. I forgot, there was a muffin served with it… yeah I’ll just leave that one alone.
