We stayed over the weekend at the Galvez we know their brunch is also. However we missed the brunch and instead we tried dinner at The Monarch, the service is outstanding and beautiful atmosphere. The food not so incredible. The fish of the day I was told it was Red snaper and I love Red Snaper so I ordered. It turned out it was a different fish a little over cooked and no much flavors. I will try something different next time.

Worst Red Snapper I’ve had. The Cesar Salad with Shrimp was good. Breakfast ok. We come here for the pool and atmosphere

I really expected better food quality and better service. Especially during a time when it was not busy at all. It was lunch time in a Tuesday. Our server was very slow at getting refills and checking up on us as well as on another table. There were only like 4 tables being occupied and they had plenty of staff. My food looked like it was microwaved. And barely warm. I don’t think I’ll be returning.

My new favorite place in Galveston. We enjoyed the Sunday brunch. It was amazing and had everything brunch should have: breakfast, pasta, seafood, select meats, fruit, dessert, bottomless mimosas, top knotch service in a beautiful, glamorous, decoratively ornate historic hotel. We will definitely be back.

We dined in ~ 6pm. Our server Chris was so awesome and attentive! I ordered the red fish with roasted seasonal veges (potatoes/zucchini/yellow squash). The potatoes were too saturated in butter/oil, but still tasted good. For someone who doesn’t care for fish/sea food this dish wasn’t too over powering and “fishy” tasting. The entree also came with two lumps of crab, i didn’t particularly like. The atmosphere was lovely and the interior design is just so dang gorgeous!

Galvez Bar & Grill is inside Grand Galvez Hotel. The location is beautiful, the decoration of hotel and restaurant were magnificent. The ambience seemed fancy for me. The food were OK, mediocre in flavor. But the service was good. The server was very attentive. I gave it a 3/5 since their menu doesn’t really specify if the dishes were spicy or not. My spouse doesn’t like hot and spicy and ended up getting one.

We came here for an overnight stay headed to our cruisethe next morning. This place was breathe taking. Omg sooo beautiful and they told me they were about to start upgrading it soon. Think this is the oldest hotel on the Island. The lady at the front desk is bomb sooo sweet very informative about it all wish I remembered her name!!!

I think this is the oldest hotel/resort in Galveston. The atmosphere is great and has an old time feel to it. The food was spot on with the exception of the not-so-warm potatoes. The drinks are amazing here and they are open to new recipes.
