WOW, this place is a hidden gem! We went into the game store above and discovered the tavern below. The rooms you can pay to rent but otherwise the open tables and game shelves are all ages and free to play! The bread sticks and drinks were excellent!

Such a cool place. Stopped in not knowing it was part of an amazing game store. Just saw the name Helm’s Deep Tavern and had to try it. Wasn’t disappointed. Great selection of free games to play. Good food selection, beer, cider, and even cocktails. Staff super friendly and helpful. Look forward to coming back regularly.

Food is always a big hit. From the pizzas to the more shareable items like nachos and cheesy bread, it’s all soo good. My personal recommended favorite: Witch’s Brew in a bread bowl. WILL NOT DISAPPOINT. Various beer and ciders on tap, free refills on soda, all with free board games and tabletop to enjoy with a group of friends and family, YOU WILL want to spend a couple of hours here.

It seems like an awesome place but my experience was awful. I ordered a drink and a pizza. I got my drink but never got my food. I waited patiently for more than an hour while the bartender ignored me. When I finally got her attention I asked for another drink and she told me she had to serve the new customers first before she could get to me. I never get angry and walk out of a restaurant but that was the final straw. I waited for more than hour after ordering and got one drink and never got my food. Train your staff!

I am writing this anonymously because I am a longtime customer and expect retaliation for writing this. I have attended several events and made use of facilities, tried about 2/3rd of the menu and most of the cocktails. The individual staff members have been great throughout the years. However, after a recent incident with staff quitting, I felt the need to shed some light on some of the information I have come across over the years. Ultimately this boils down to the business being grossly mismanaged by the owner and upper management. From improper preparation of food to poor treatment of employees, this wonderful concept of a bar has struggled due to stubborn pride and terrible decisions made by higher ups. Helms Deep has proudly advertised in the past that it offers both vegetarian/vegan and gluten free options. However, in reality there was actually No protocol to prevent cross contamination of not only allergens, but the ability to ensure that the vegetarian food wasn’t being prepared alongside meat. After being made aware of these issues upper management continues to knowingly put customers and employees health at risk. I do hope one day I can return with my friends and family.
