I couldn’t be more pleased with the level of service we received. Upon arriving we were greeted at the door. Seated, a waiter came over with water. I didn’t catch her name she’s a beauty dark skin, with hair pinned back. However, she waited patiently for us to order, asked if we had any questions. She offered her suggestions. We ordered the wraps and fries and a cocktail. Drinks were perfect, another waiter gentleman brought the drinks, with a smile. Didn’t catch his name either. But full of energy. Kind of dark brownish hair. However they work good as a team. With was something I never seen. It was a baseball game that day so it started to pick up. They tagged team so well. Food came out soon we blanked our eyes. My husband noticed the wings, and decided to order some after the waiter(guy) made a suggestion about how to order them. Let me just say they were a hit. We loved our experience. We then found out the lady that seated us was the manager. Sara, we complimented her staff especially the waiters. We were the couple that sat at the high table. When we come back to visit we will be back! Please keep up the good work!

We were sat upstairs on a Saturday morning around 11am. Seated without a wait. Tried the chicken and waffles, bland chicken waffles are hard to mess up. Country fried steak also very bland. Had to try and add salt to help the situation. Meet pretty firm and little chew to it. Potatoes okay. Not going to finish my meal

Met a friend for brunch here and our server was very nice. The food was delicious and came in good sized portions. The S’mores French Toast (not pictured) is a heart-attack waiting to happen but that’s how you know it’s good

We went for both dinner and brunch on friday and saturday. I had the blue cheese burger, cooked medium. The burger was pretty good and the pieces of thick cut bacon were cooked just right. I think the burger could have used just a little bit more blue cheese. The parmesan fries kinda sucked. My wife had the Ricotta Gnocchi, she liked it and would order it again. Today, we went back for brunch. We wanted to try the smores french toast and carne asada eggs benny. Both were pretty good.

Never order food from “Garage Kitchen and Bar.” I am not the type to leave many negative reviews but I just have to share my experience with this restaurant. My partner and I traveled from out of town to San Diego for our vacation looking for a place to eat in the Gaslamp Quarter and to also enjoy ourselves on our last stay in San Diego, We decided to stop by at “Garage Kitchen and Bar.” As we stepped inside with my partner’s service animal, we were then stopped and approached by a staff member who saw we had a dog. He said no dogs allowed. I told him that she’s a diabetic alert service dog. Then he said it was okay. We found our seats and a tall male server with a beard and a mustache came by and asked us if we were ready to order after bringing us water. We replied politely, “no, we need a little more time please.” He left the table and we browsed the menu. We waited 5 more mins and then my partner went to the bathroom. While she was in the bathroom, I waited for our server to come back to order our food and drinks, however; our original server (tall guy with brown hair with a beard and mustache) still never came back to take our order. A woman named Vanessa came over and approached me asking several questions so suddenly which caught me off guard. At that point, I just simply just wanted to put our order in. But she asked what I was waiting for and I had told her I was waiting for our server to come back to the table so I could order. She left our table. Then my partner arrived back from the bathroom and asked if I had put the order in, I said no because our server still never came back to take out order. The same woman approached our table again and asked if she could take our order, we politely gave our order and waited patiently for our food. Our original server which was male never communicated or returned back to our table for the rest of our service. When we received our food, which was the chicken tenders and fries. the fries were overly salty and only good when dipped in ranch or ketchup. Chicken was dry. My “californication” drink was overly sour and had so much tajin I could barely taste any tequila for a $13 drink. We spoke to the manager by the name of “Shane.” Shane was very, very unprofessional and unkind to us when we kindly and politely shared our feelings and unwelcoming experience to him. He was very aggressive, defensive, rude and argumentative towards us, not once showing any type of care or understanding as NEW customers to this establishment that he manages. You would think that as new customers this establishment would care about providing high quality service and exceptional food with a positive experience, clearly that was not the case. I hope this establishment provides better training courses and has a better manager who is KIND and understanding to their customers instead of treating their customers like their feelings aren’t valid and their voice makes no difference in the quality of customer service they receive. We will never return here. All we wanted was to eat good food and enjoy ourselves with one last meal before driving home several hours. So Very disappointing. All I can say to anyone thinking of eating here ..is there are so many better places to eat in the quarter than this place.

Pretty much chose this place to have dinner by chance. We were visiting San Diego as an anniversary get away trip. The Garage Kitchen + Bar has a public house vibe. The menu isn’t extensive, but has some good variety of bar fare. We chose to order the Ahi Tuna nachos and a French dip sandwich with fries, along with a specialty bar drink. We weren’t too sure what the nachos were going to be like. When our food arrived, we were pleasantly presented with a well plated masterpiece of nachos. The tuna nachos were SO good! The French dip was good too. Nice tender roast beef, with a good flavor and just enough au jus. We really enjoyed our dinner and drinks.

The food is okay, service is okay but the napkins and water should always be asked to the server. Atmosphere is good because it is well lighted and singer is good on that night

Great spot for drinks or food; seems like they do a lot of events too but I went on a Sunday night so it was fairly low key.
