I hired Gavin’s Soul Food and Catering to cater a 100 person birthday event. They were professional throughout the process and made sure things were done according to plan. The food was amazing! It was hot and ready to go once dinner started. My guests were very pleased with the food and the portions. The greens, mac n cheese, and the salmon were home runs. I would recommend this caterer for any event. Thank you for making my event a success!

Absolutely the best in Philly. Way better than that place on G-town ave., (folks must be desperate to give that place more than 1 star..food just as bland) better than Corines, way better than the Reading Terminal spot. I’ve been to them all and was never really satisfied. And YES, the mac n cheese IS baked and it’s delicious. The fried chicken is very flavorful. This is now my new place for soul food just wish they were open everyday.

OMG!!!! Let me say this place is delicious. I ordered a little bit of everything so that I can get an idea on how well they cooked their food. First I ordered the fried whiting and friedcshrimp platter with green and Mac and cheese. The fish and shrimp was seasoned and cooked perfectly.the greens were delicious and the Mac and cheese to die for. We also ordered fried wing platter. Those wings were crunchy and seasoned well. The candid yams were ok to me but my husband loved them. The potato salad was good. Lastly my daughter ordered the honey and sirracha wings and she had no complaints. If you want to have some good soul food this is the place to go. Large portion sizes and surprisingly I ordered from doordash and it arrived within 30 minutes and our food was pipping hot when it arrived. A+++ for me. We will definitely be returning the next time we are in the mood for some good soul food

I just left Gavin’s I ordered 2 Salmon Alfredo platters the sauce was okay. The Salmon not Fresh, over cooked and dry. My other have ordered a side of M&C it taste like they be trying to save money on Cheese . Disappointed with my entire order for 55.00$

My wife and I had heard about this restaurant and we were interested and finally getting a chance to taste the food. My wife ordered the chicken wings with mac and cheese and yams. I ordered the whiting with greens and potato salad. At first glance the food looked tasty upon further inspection, my wife found that the wingettes were slightly overcooked, but they were season pretty well and had an okay taste. She wished she would have read the reviews before trying the mac and cheese and the yams. The mac and cheese does not look baked. And it was just okay. The yams we’re not overly sweet and had a strong seasoning maybe nutmeg in them. I was definitely disappointed by the taste of The whiting fish. It did not taste fresh at all and it had a particular smell on two of the three pieces that I received. Finally the potato salad was really potato salad hash. The seasoning was okay but the texture was not appealing. We are definitely on the fence. Not sure if we will give Gavin’s another try. On a positive note the young lady at the register was very courteous and conscientious. She had a beautiful spirit about her.

First time trying through door dash. I ordered the Turkey wings w/greens and Mac & an order of shrimp Alfredo. The shrimp Alfredo was tasty but wasn’t really to my liking. The Turkey wings were well seasoned. The reviews weren’t lying about the greens; They are fresh and tasty, definitley not canned greens!! I’ll be visiting again to try other items on the menu.

Omgggg!!! My husband ordered us platters a couple of weeks ago and it was so good. We ordered trays for our church fellowship and the food was delicious. Everyone raved over how good everything was. We definitely will be ordering again. Fried Fish, Fried Chicken, Turkey Wings seasoned and fried good. Mac & Cheese, Yams, Rice and Collard Greens was off the hook. Thank you Gavin’s for catering our dinner at Abundant Life Ministries of Phila. We will be supporting again. ❤️❤️

Saw the reviews and decided to give them a try for the first time on uber eats. I’m so disappointed. I ordered a whiting platter and my fish wasn’t cooked all the way. The Mac was more like a poor mans Mac and cheese. The noodle to cheese ratio was completely off and it had multiple rock hard noodles in it. I gave it two stars because the greens and the cake were good. Wouldn’t order from them again. Fried fish is easy to make and it should NEVER be partially raw. Would’ve posted a picture but I threw the platter away. I did send a picture to uber eats. If I wasn’t paying attention due to hunger, I could’ve gotten sick. Check your food!!!

I am big on Online Reputation and this review is well earned! My coworkers and I ordered fish platters today with mac & cheese and yams, and the food was absolutely delicious. I got the turkey wings, rice , Mac n cheese n green beans… the turkey wings were seasoned good but dry, and the rice was hard. The Mac n cheese was ok as well as the green beans. My fiancé got the salmon Alfredo and it was ok. My sis got wings with Mac n cheese n she enjoyed it.
