Showed up close to closing and they welcomed us in with a table. Friendly staff and service. Steaks cooked to temp and seasoned well. Baked potato and starter salad were good. Mixed veggies served with steak were a miss in my opinion. Could use a little sprucing up in the dinner room.

The Fab Forty
Stopped here for lunch while traveling through Deadwood on our cross-country vacation. We had been playing some slots downstairs when we decided to stay for lunch before heading out on the road once again. We went upstairs to where the steakhouse is located, was seated immediately, the waitress was absolutely wonderful, had great suggestions, and was super friendly. We ordered appetizers, namely the Chislic, which is a meat dish that I had read about and wanted to try. I also ordered the fish, and the husband ordered a burger. The chislic was good, (keeping in mind I am a pescatarian. ((I eat fish but not beef, chicken or pork)) I ordered the walleye which was another dish I read about and wanted to try. It was good, nothing particular to rave about. At least not for the price. The burger my husband said was great, but their homemade chips, were fantastic. Lol. The place was clean. The food was good, and the service was fantastic, so I really don’t have anything to complain about, i will say though, if you’re looking for an out of this world steak, you may want to check elsewhere. If you’re looking for good food, good service and don’t mind paying a little extra, this is the place to come to.

Such great dinner we went back for breakfast! I always forget to take pictures of my food before I start eating it, BUT I will say this: Since meeting my fiancé and being converted to Traeger smoked ribeye’s, I have never had a steak at a restaurant that even comes CLOSE to how delicious he makes them on the Traeger. But this one was. A very close second. It was so good. I had a bite of his prime rib too which was also delicious. The service was great and the atmosphere was nice, both at dinner (on a busy Friday night) and breakfast, we were seated and served quickly. With just the two of us, we got seated at nice little tables next to the windows that overlook Main Street. Will definitely go back if we are ever in the area again!

Crystal was our server and was pleasant attentive and efficient while tending to the entire area herself! Awesome food and service and good prices. We did enjoy the historic photos and descriptions also .

Our waitress, Traci, was excellent! Her voice was very calming and she knew the menu backwards and forwards. The ribeye was good, add the mushrooms to it, I may not get it again (price a little high for the quality of it). The fettuccine Alfredo was good! I would get it again. The chili has some decent flavor. However, the molten lava cake was not the best. I do not recommend that but I do recommend the restaurant!

My wife and I planned to eat to eat at Legends Steakhouse, due to unfortunate circumstances that was not possible. We walked Deadwood and ended up at the Gem. We should have kept walking. I was a little skeptical going in just because of the condition of the place, however we all know the term hole in the wall exits for a reason. Sometimes what is lacking in atmosphere is more than compensated in food quality. Well, I wish this had been the case. The bathroom was a little dirty and one of the faucets was coming out of the countertop.

Terrible food. Waited forever. Ordered a cup of chili and it was so salty, I couldn’t eat it. I sent it back for a different cup of soup. My husband’s and my salads were awful. My grilled was cold and his steak was luke warm. Don’t eat here.

For the price being paid it eas probably the most overpriced. We went here to get away from the sturgis bustle. The environment was great for that. But the quality if food was not even mediocre. Vegetables being a step above canned or frozen. Gravy that tastes generic. Just seems like hardly any effort was put into it.
