At General Tsao’s House we want to bring you the best of the authentic flavors of Sichuan as well as our famous Dim Sum and Noodles. So look out, among others, for the seductive ‘fish-fragrant’ combination of pickled chilies, ginger, garlic and spring onion, the addictive fieriness of ‘numbing-and-hot’ flavored dishes, and the refreshing tones of a ‘ginger-juice’ sauce. We hope you enjoy your food.

Some of the absolute BEST food I have ever had.. literally. We had the cumin lamb noodles (AMAZING) and the General Tsaos chicken. Both had just the right amount of spiciness and I definitely want more before we leave Philly!! Absolute no complaints!!

We were visiting Philly from Seattle, home to outstanding Chinese food, and saw good Google reviews for this Chinese restaurant near Rittenhouse Square. The food was excellent. We had the cumin lamb in noodles and blue crab egg drop soup, with fried spring roll appetizer. The noodles were freshly made and delicious. Sauces were subtle and good. Would go back any time. It was very reasonably priced, too! Nice atmosphere. Tasteful with a bohemian undercurrent. Not touristy or crowded.

Everything here was definitely beyond average. The combination of well-sliced pork belly and garlic soy sauce, tangy chili oil, and cucumber slices was savory but also refreshing. Crab meat Xiaolongbao had rich broth inside and was flavorful. Kong Pao shrimp was good. Sour spicy fish and enoki mushroom was not to my liking, but my friend liked it. The lotus root was a little bit plain to me. Pork corn soup was super well flavored, appetizing and sweet but not like overly! One thing I can complain about this place is that they have too few beverage options to choose from!

I want to split this review into 2 areas. The first concerns the atmosphere, drinks, and food. The restaurant was nicely decorated and inviting, with relaxing vibes and an upscale atmosphere. Drinks, while pricey, were good and they did have a mocktail available. And finally the food overall was great – the shrimp dry pot was particularly excellent, with our general tsaos chicken also being a standout. We would have appreciated crisper tofu and more rice, but those were minor issues.

Second time here and the food again was excellent! We got spring rolls, scallion pancakes, dry pot with fish and Genera Tsao’s chicken. Everything was delicious. A lot of food (we ordered this for 2 people and had leftovers). Cozy atmosphere and very fairly priced. Will be back again.

Authenticity is not so important due to the natural adaptation to new environment. Are they still Good Chinese food? YES. We enjoyed all of our dishes. The place is clean with tasteful decor. The chef is from Chengdu成都,China. Due to pandemic, this restaurant is only opened 2 weeks ago, so it’s still very new. Ling, our server is super friendly and helpful. Is this place worth going? YES! Go give it a try.

Fabulous experience! The best authentic Chinese food I’ve had, and allergy friendly! I had the Ginger Chicken with Bok Choy and my friend had the Flat Noodles with Cumin Lamb and recommend both. The portions are generous, the atmosphere refined, and the service was stellar. Rex(? – I didn’t catch his full name) was absolutely lovely and was attentive to our parties allergy restrictions noting allergies and checking with the kitchen to ensure safe choices. We are thrilled to find an allergy friendly option and recommend you check them out – also follow their Instagram.

The place offers some authentic Chinese food that challenges your taste buds. We had the super spicy chicken and the amazingly spicy frogs. Try it and you won’t regret it.
