A more upscale KBBQ experience! There’s a lot of construction on Wilshire near here so it’s a pain driving. They do have a parking garage next to it as well since street parking is not really feasible at the moment.

A bit pricey but good food, nice service, and decent atmosphere. We got wagyu beef and the waitress grilled it expertly for us. Delish! The other two meat orders were cooked from the kitchen instead of on the grill, so that was unexpected for us. Overall good Korean BBQ.

I recently had the pleasure of dining at Genwa Korean BBQ, and I must say, it was an extraordinary culinary experience that left me craving for more. From the moment I stepped into the restaurant, I was captivated by the inviting ambiance, impeccable service, and, of course, the mouthwatering aromas wafting through the air.

Despite the somewhat mismatched interior atmosphere for a luxury restaurant, the level of service provided was exceptional. The only minor drawback was the pace at which the courses were served, resulting in a relatively short dining experience of just 45 minutes. However, the taste of the food was superb, and the staff members were incredibly kind and courteous. While the requirement to pay for parking was a slight downside, the cost was minimal, making it a relatively inconsequential aspect of the overall experience.

Went a few years ago during a business trip. Almost everywhere we ate in LA was seriously overrated, but not Genwa. It was my first Korean BBQ experience, and I’ve been looking for a place to live up to it since. Absolutely delicious, great service, and I loved how there was so much banchan!

My first time at Genwa, and I thoroughly enjoyed everything about this place. Dishes were flavorful served with generous variety of kimchi side dishes. I also enjoyed my favorite cold noodles authentic chewy texture. Grilled meats were tender and well seasoned. Impeccable service and experience. Good intimate location as well.

First time in California and first time trying Korean BBQ and I made the best restaurant choice! The servers made it so easy to understand the menu and they cook the food right in front of you! The pork belly is perfect. I was very impressed. Will definitely make a stop here my next visit!

Sub par experience from a place that’s usually very good. My server tonight chastised me for turning over some pork belly that was burning up on one side. I assumed that like my other genwa experiences, the server would let me know when the meat was done and tend to it. However the server walks off after telling me my pork belly would be done in a minute. I wait a minute and take the pork belly off and the entire thing was burnt to a crisp. I quickly peel off the rest of what’s on the plate. Then the server puts the galbi onto the grill. Shortly after he flips it and leaves, the grill loses flame and I’m left with a slow cooked galbi. I’ve just never experienced this type of incompetence at a kbbq place before. The server then tells me it’s “medium rare” and ready to serve. Everything else was correct but if I’m going to pay 150~$ for two people I expect somewhat better service. I will never return to this location. Do yourself a favor and go to the Olympic location as their servers are attentive and what made me a customer in the first place.
