What a terrific roadside BBQ joint. I had the Big Daddy potato with a side of greens. The potato was enormous, perfectly cooked, and loaded down with some of the best BBQ I have ever had. The greens were, for a lack of a better word, perfect. Perfectly cooked, perfectly seasoned, perfect portion. Best greens ive ever had. All washed down with a fresh squeezed strawberry lemonade that I will say was delightful. Not to sweet, not to sour, just fantastic. A must stop in Houston

Stopped by and it was a food truck near a different restaurant; so, plenty of parking is available nearby. Got a loaded potato with brisket. Meat and potato were very tasty. Staffers were courteous and service was good. Nice place to grab some barbeque; and, I noticed they have some seafood items as well.

Received my order of The Big Daddy and peach cobbler…sooo very excited to try this unique baker and devour my favorite dessert. Unfortunately, I was so disappointed. The Big Daddy tasted fine, but the meat had a grit to it, it felt like I was eating dirt. Literally every bite of rib and sausage had a gritty feel to it that crunched between my teeth as if I’d eaten sand. At first I thought maybe my meal had fallen to the ground, but I eventually realized it was the char on the beef that had the grittiness to it. Very odd for char to have that kind of grit. Also, the description stated the potato was topped with chopped beef, but mine had sliced beef (not as appealing or easy to eat on a baker). The peach cobbler wasn’t good at all, it tasted like it’d been cooked a week ago. The peaches weren’t bright in color; they were brown, almost a caramel color (and I’m not incredibly picky about what my food looks like as long as it tastes good) and it was way too overcooked. It just didn’t taste good at all. Threw this $30 DoorDash order away and ordered elsewhere.

Mmmmm!! Chopped beef sandwhich, Three Meat Plate – brisket, sausage and ribs w/fried okra and baked beans (which is actually more like chili but still very tasty), and a luscious piece of pound cake (to go with some fresh macerated strawberries and homemade whipped cream)!!!

This place get good reviews, so thought we’d give it a try. We bought a Turkey leg, a rib sandwich, the shrimp dinner, and potato salad. The shrimp was delicious but everything else was tough, unseasoned, and dissatisfying. We couldn’t even eat the Turkey leg. It’s unfortunate because they seem so nice.

I was looking for an old-fashioned, home-style meal. Gilbert & Sons did not disappoint. The meatloaf rested on a bed of mashed potatoes with a tasty sauce that accompanied without being overbearing. With that, the smoked greens and mac & cheese were delicious. Only one thing could end a meal like that and they had it: delicious pound cake. It made me happy!
