Visited from out of town after seeing place listed as the best delicatessen in VT. Kinda makes me sad for VT. First let me say, it was acceptable food. But a few things to know. Portions were good for the price. Grinder rolls are non descript and don’t hold up to oil well. Lettuce is an upcharge, default topping is shredded cabbage. Pickles were very good. Deviled eggs bland. Pasta salad very good. Mac’s meh. You can dine in but it feels like an abandoned library. Layout is awkward and five people in line made it very uncomfortable. I was apparently standing in a staff members way and she gave me the nastiest can I help I’ve ever heard followed by a the line is over there as I tried to look into the sandwich prep case. Like I was her her kid. Anyway, fine to try, decent value but mind your P’s and Q’s I guess.

I know everyone is complaining about the new owner. I just had a large Italian grinder and it had a little more meat than 2 years ago. The oil was a tiny bit different, but over all, it was excellent!

Truly the only place around to get the BEST grinder. Every time I crave a grinder, it’s a Gill’s grinder. Best bread! People will wait in a line of 12 ahead of them. they are that good. Locally famous!! They even cater and have the best tuna mac salad, spicy too, real crabmeat grinders sell out. Day old bread and rolls 50 cents, baked goods, drinks, chips, seating.
