I just bought my boyfriend and I burgers from Gil’s on Tuesday August 3rd, 2021. We haven’t had burgers from there since we were kids. We’re from San Marcos. The burgers tasted just the way they should be. The fries were good. To top it off we had a Manske Roll too. Delicious as always. Just as I remember. If you’re not from here you should go by Gil’s and try a burger and a Manske Roll. You won’t be disappointed.

Hands down the best burger I have had in quite some time! We love discovering unique burger joints when visiting new towns and this one did not disappoint. The fries are fresh, the burgers had amazing flavor, and the buns didn’t taste like stale old bread like most fast food hamburger buns.

Manske rolls are not the same as they used to be but they are close and Definitely still good. The other food is ok but something is different from what it used to be for so many years as a San Marcos Staple. The atmosphere has changed from when I thought little people used to live in the clay Adobe houses/levels that welcomed you above the entrance and the authentic Indian drum in the corner that just begged to be played by every child and Man child who entered the place. And don’t forget the Indian teepee with a fire to capture every child’s imagination.

Not my type of burger but may be yours. I ordered the 1lbs. Gilamonster with chili cheese fries. I should of stopped at the fries. The massive basket of fries was more than enough to stuff you up. I polished them off then it was onto the massive 1lbs. Burger. Wasn’t expecting a loose meat style burger those burgers tend to be a thing big up north east. Brace yourself for falling chunks of meat coming out. Food was made to order service was fast and friendly. Finally the Manskee roll this place bread and butter. Make sure to top these bad boys with bacon yes not a typo put some bacon on it will have you stumbling. Best time to go is now during the summer college is out of session plenty of parking and practically no waiting in long lines.
