In 1972, Carlo & Jean Giorlando opened a neighborhood po-boy shop, where you would often find Nonna, Jean’s mother, talking to customers and busing tables. In 1985, their son, John Giorlando started working with his parents. In 2003, after 18 years, Carlo’s health began to decline, so John & his brother Paul Giorlando became partners and purchased the restaurant. With John’s 18 years and Paul’s 30 years of restaurant experience, they began to add their own unique recipes and talents to the business.
In 2008, John married his wife Dana, and together they expanded the business into a full service restaurant.
Now the three work together to serve the best of our family’s Italian recipes made from scratch daily.
Blackened fish, signature roast beef sandwiches & other Southern eats in a casual, sit-down space. Based on 627 reviews, the restaurant has received a rating of 4.6 stars. Price $$

We stopped for a day in Metairie on our way back from a Gulf Shores trip. We ate dinner here and I just cannot think of any Italian restaurant that I have ever eaten at that tested this good. I know that you’re probably thinking, “yeah but all American Italian restaurants pretty much taste the same”. Not this one. I got the meal that it is chicken parm & eggplant parm for when you can’t choose which parm you want. It was so freaking delicious. Even my side salad was amazing and they make all their own dressings! I got honey mustard & it was fantastic. All of the other meals we got were super delicious and everyone was more than satisfied, which is rare. The staff was incredibly friendly. Even their iced tea was really good. I know that sounds silly, but we just thought everything was so great. I wish I didnt live so far away so I could eat here every week. Definitely will be back when we come to Metairie again.

This was our first time visiting the restaurant. Let me first say, It’s a lot smaller than I expected. However, it provides a more intimate setting. The portions are amazing and the flavors are on point. I ordered the Cheese and Gravy Fries and the Calamari. I’m a sucker for calamari so every time I visit an Italian restaurant, I have to try their calamari. I like to base an Italian restaurant off of their Calamari, Caesar dressing, Veal and of course Marinara sauce! I don’t eat spaghetti ♀️

I’d come back for the croutons alone but everything was well seasoned, well made, great portions and affordable. My server, Patti, gave great suggestions, was attentive, and quick. This might be my new lunch spot. Support local family businesses! They build up our culture.

I love Giorlando’s. The place is classic and the food is just like what I grew up eating as a New Orleans native. Going there always just feels right. Roast beef Poboys are great and make sure you get the Shrimp, Spinach, and Artichoke bread.

It was a true pleasure to dine in at Giorlando’s for lunch Friday June 16th. The food was great. Our waitress was great. It was also so fantastic to have a truly quiet lunch free of background music & the barrage of televisions on walls. Please stay just the way you are, Giorlando’s. You are perfect.

There aren’t enough good things I can say about this restaurant. This is a MUST for local food. It’s been in business for decades and there’s a reason! From the onion rings to any main course, you’ll be hard pressed to find better food to match your Nonna’s food.

Our first time eating here. Service was exceptional, our waitress Zoie was great. Food was delicious. We had the fries with gravy appetizer that was wonderful. Three of us split meatball sandwich and chicken fettacine. Will definitely be returning to try other things on menu.

You can tell the food is made from scratch. Cozy atmosphere. Service was a bit slower than we were hoping. Great family establishment.

Their red sauce is to die for! The food is so yummy and reasonably priced too. Highly recommend this neighborhood family restaurant. Try the homemade chips.
