I ordered Vegetable Delight from the menu and sat down at a booth in the back. Excellent server, excellent food. Bar none the freshest, most flavorful meal ever in a Dothan Chinese restaurant. The food tasted so good because it was fresh, not because it was laced with salt and/or MSG. The decor is somewhat dated, and the lack of lighting in the dark hallway leading to the restroom was unsettling. But the food was excellent. The buffet fare looked ample and varied.

This is the only place we will eat Chinese food. They don’t use msg which I’m very thankful. They don’t have to cover up the rat, cat or dog meat that you eat at other Chinese restaurants with the msg. She will even show you the meat you’re eating if you had any questions. The food may not look fresh on the buffet because she doesn’t like to waste food. And face it people we Americans are wasteful. If you tell her what items you are wanting she is always very eager to cook it fresh for you. The building is very run down, but most of the businesses are either on the north or south side and people are attracted to updated buildings and more of a selection so they can stuff their faces instead of quality food in which my family always have eaten here at Golden Palace. I’m very thankful they are still open despite the lack of business:)

We should have been more leery when we pulled up at 12pm and there was only 3 cars in the parking lot. We thought we would go in and give it a try (they make you pay up front) we made our plates from their limited selection and small portions – we sat down and proceeded to eat and it was terrible!! Hard, not fresh and most of the meat I tried was uncooked and didn’t taste like chicken. We tried everything and everything was terrible – we got up and went to the counter to tell the small Asian lady that the food was terrible and her response was “So sorry its their style of cooking and we could order off the menu and it would be better”. After this lunch visit my conclusion is this is the WORST place to eat and I think my boyfriends mother tried to kill me by taking me here. Best thing is to go somewhere else – NOTICE the cars people esp. @ lunch time.

On Friday, February 15th, my two kids chose Golden Palace in Dothan Alabama as the place they wanted to eat dinner. After we’d gone through the (mediocre at best) buffet we sat down to eat our meal. One bite into my food I realized I had something stuck in my throat. When I couldn’t get it out, I went to the bathroom where I began choking. Unable to clear the item in my windpipe, I started throwing up and was finally able to dislodge the object.

One of the worse buffets I’ve ever been to, the staff are amazing people but I went in, paid, before I even had the time to look at what I was paying for, then I got to making my plate and they barely had anything, and NOTHING was fresh. Completely awful and a waste of money, would’ve rather gone to Chow King and pay the exact same price for something fresh. Would not advice this restaurant to anyone.

They cook a very miminal amount of food for their buffet. If you go in there when there are more than a few people after lunch, there won’t be much to eat. It’s not bad food but the owners are very cheap.

Worst Place EVER. The Food is NOT FRESH. And not good at all. I complained to the manager named jan of this problem and she was very rude and unprofessional. Its not worth your money, I promise…. Seriously I wouldn’t recommend this place to anyone.
