We are staying near Gretna and were craving fried chicken on a Wednesday night. This was the closest restaurant to us. So we made the drive and have no regrets. The fried chicken is juicy and perfectly crispy. The mashed potatoes and gravy are nothing to rave about. The coleslaw is a bit different than I’m used to, but it was good. It was a steady flow of people either going through the drive through or coming in the door. Don’t forget the hush puppies!

This was a great stop along our route passing through. Down home, no frills; counter ordered and table served with plates, silverware, and cups all disposable. The chicken was offered fried or roasted, both were excellent. The fried chicken reminded me of my mom’s growing up. Prices were very reasonable and everyone thoroughly enjoyed their meal.

Came thru town for business on account getting fuel we smelled the most amazing smell coming from next door. So onward we went. 2pc Fried Chicken was delicious baked beans, potato salad, slaw and macaroni salad was simply good! Definitely will be back to try more!

The Golden Skillet! Wow! I haven’t seen one of these in operation in 30 years or more. When the GPS threw this up on a Restaurant search, I knew I had to stop. Everything on the menu was a bit pricey, but what restaurant isn’t nowadays. The interior was quaint yet cozy. The wait staff was friendly enough. The burgers were average, nothing to be excited about. The French fries were perfect. The fried chicken was still top notch and better than can be had at Bojangles or KFC. So, if you’re in the area and you want to try some great fried chicken, search no farther the The Golden Skillet!
