Simply phenomenal. My partner and I had red beans & rice, blackened chicken, bread pudding, and a couple of cocktails. Everything was absolutely delicious, generously spiced, and beautifully presented. This kind of cuisine is tragically underrepresented outside of Louisiana and especially in New England. To say it is a welcome and refreshing addition to the Northampton restaurant scene would be an understatement.

Fun atmosphere! Fantastic cocktail menu, spicy savory gumbo, alligator sandwich, and fried chicken. Garlicky mac n cheese. Generous portions.

my partner and i went for an early dinner on a week day. we tried sitting inside, but the music was blaring despite the place being empty. also, the servers were standing together in a clique and it felt like we were intruding, so we opted to sit outside. the food was bland and not even hot – it seemed like it had been sitting a while. the crab cakes and croquettes were both sitting in pools of sauce that looked like soup, which wasn’t super appetizing. the drinks were great. but for the quality of the food and service you get, the value isn’t there. i was really hopeful about this place, unfortunately i won’t be going back.

Came in with high expectations and they were met. Went with a group of six so got to try a lot of things and enjoyed everything I ate. Nice cocktail menu, but what I really liked is they had multiple mocktail options.

I came to Gombo with a group of six at the height of their Friday dinner rush. We took a bit to agree on sitting outside immediately or waiting for an indoor table, and the staff was friendly and helpful despite being clearly very busy. We were served relatively quickly given the size of our party and how packed the restaurant was. The food was all delicious, and even the appetizers had good-sized portions (two of our party with smaller appetites comfortably split the fried catfish special). We had a lovely night and all agreed that we’d love to come back. Nobody else in the area is offering food quite like this, it’s a welcome addition to Northampton!

Cool atmosphere and very friendly service. The food, on the other hand, was just okay. My wife had the voodoo shrimp and it was a large plate of unseasoned rice, canned tomatoes that tasted like it wasn’t cooked much into the dish, and five tiny shrimp for $22. Very underwhelming for the price point. My blackened catfish was better in terms of taste, but I was expecting more flavor considering the type of restaurant it is. I’m down to try their brunch one of these days but not sure I’ll be lining up to eat dinner there again.

7/21/23 we arrived at 1 pm . Based on the recommendations we received we were looking forward to the same experience. Chicken and waffles were “room temperature,”shrimp and grits were “cold”, crab cakes were mostly 95% dough, allowed the waitress to touch the plate with shrimp and grits to verify its temperature she offered to have it remade they warmed it in the micro wave, how’d I know that took a picture of plat before they took and it returned the same way it left and the shrimp now returned rubbery. Like I told the waitress we were gonna pay the total anyway it would’ve been better than representing the meal reheating it.

Really good food and drinks. Cajun martini delicious. Seafood was great – raw oysters along with dishes w shrimp, mussels, little craw pieces, andouille sausage. Bill was pretty high but that’s the times! Fun and attentive service…

Was very excited to see a Cajun restaurant opening up in Northampton. I’ve been to New Orleans twice and love the food. This is a great taste of New Orleans close to home with all the dishes you would expect (plus po boys, which a sit down restaurant often wouldn’t have). I loved the beer selection and staff was exceptionally friendly. I’ll be back very, very soon because it was so hard to choose between the entrees.

I’ve been wanting to try this restaurant since it opened a few months ago and finally got to go in for dinner last night. The food was so delicious! I had the crawfish broulette and the etoufee. My partner had the chicken and sausage jambalaya and it was all great.
