Goose River Brewing personifies the Blue-Collar fun-loving craft beer drinkers that are respectful of the Hillsboro Community and local region. Our Brew Pub values collaboration, inclusiveness, and supporting the local community.
Great craft beers are brewed with great ingredients. We have numerous Malt Barley growers in the region. Goose River Brewing’s priority is to use locally produced ingredients, as much as possible, for our beers. Our production process is a “field to beer” concept. We are collaborating with Rahr Malting Company, through their operations at Taft Elevator, for malt barley. Initially, we will be using dry hops and exploring how we can build relationships with small local hops producers.

We loved eating here. When they opened they had some problems sure. Who doesn’t. The staff are friendly. I found going up to the bar and asking for stuff was the best way because it made the servers lives easier (I used to be a server so I totally understand this). It’s amazing food and a good fun atmosphere as long as people aren’t being rude and yelling at each other. We’ve had many parties there and tried pretty much everything on their menu. The beer selection is amazing and one of the few places that has Guinness (which is mine and my husbands go to beer). This was a weekly place for us for a year before we moved. We still make the drive once a month to see everyone and enjoy the food.

I just found out two days ago this place serves food, so I had to order. I ordered a double bacon cheese burger and fries. I got all the toppings, lettuce, tomato, onion and pickels but I can tell you, this burger is probably the best tasting I have ever had. I was alerted for the price of it, 19.86 for a double bacon cheese burger. Most I ever paid but it is sure worth it! The staff was super friendly and the cook was amazing. Made my sandwich exactly the way I wanted. Bravo staff and business! 8 out of 10 for me and I’d definitely let ppl know about this business!

We had supper for my son and his fiancé’s bachelor and bachelorette party. They were told ahead of time to expect 20 or so people. The waitress took our drink orders, then came back for food orders. People started getting food but most of the party hadn’t even gotten their drinks! The food was delivered randomly not in any order. The first to order were close the the last to get there food! Two people in our party never got their food as the party bus was there! Then the chaos really started when people went to pay. Wrong food with drinks, drinks on bills that had water to drink, extra food on bills etc! I was the last one to go as I was not riding the bus and ended up paying for things that were missed. This place can not handle a crowd as this is the second time I have been there with a large group and the same thing happened! It’s disappointing because the food is actually good!

I was in here on saturday the 5th of August with a party of 20 people. I never received my food and i ordered a cheeseburger and fries. They were given a 5 day warning that we were coming. We had a bus coming to pick us up at 7. We were there at 5pm and one of the 1st ones there and ordered last. Our bills were all messed up and people paid for things that werent theirs. When we were asked how everyones food was and 2 of us hadn’t even gotten ours and they went to check and they hadn’t even started our food. We told them to cancel our order because we had to leave. I therefore had to order a pizza at the next stop so I could eat something. They need to get their stuff figured out.

The food and beverages are great! The service leaves a lot to be desired. We have to ask several times for silverware and ketchup. Normally I wouldn’t care but, this has happed multiple times. Just frustrating because we love supporting local establishments!

On 5/27/23 all of my cousins made a trip to Hillsboro to visit the cemetery to plant flowers on our many relatives that our buried there and lay to rest two of our parents, the last of our family. We grew up as children visiting our grandmother in Hillsboro and have so many wonderful memories, playing in the park, swimming at the pool, helping our grandfather at the hardware store he owned, and penny candy at Fankhandles!
