As of today May 16th they are officially open! Ordered the bacon egg and cheese croissant. The croissant is nice and flaky and bacon taste like my granny cooked it. They are a little chaotic bc it’s their first day open so I’ll cut some slack. Added pics of inside and chalkboard menu on wall. The decor and floors they did look phenomenal imo. Cool little diner feel! Imo a dollar extra for cheese is high and especially when croissant is already on the higher end. All in all sweet lady’s working here.

The restaurant was clean and service we received was friendly and prompt. Unfortunately the food was less than desirable. We ordered: a fish plate that was served with fish and 4 pieces of toast, no fries. Two kids plates of chicken tenders and macaroni. The chicken was fine but the macaroni is literally Kraft. For the table we ordered loaded cheese fries. We got a plate of fries, cold bacon, MAYBE a tablespoon of shredded cheese and a dozen jalapeños. Lastly, a grilled shrimp salad. The salad portion was typical lettuce and tomato but those tiny frozen shrimp were disgusting. I ended up leaving my food on the table because I couldn’t force myself to eat it.

Such a pleasurable experience! As with any new business, there are kinks to work out- but with that being said, the way that the workers and business owner try to make sure everything is perfect, they really blew me away.

I know they just opened but you wait so long for your food. I saw two tables ask for to-go boxes before they even had a chance to eat. We waited about 40 minutes for the Spaghetti Special. Burgers don’t come with fries. We did not know that and were not asked if we wanted to add them, which we would have and they would have made more money. There were only 6 tables of customers, and we ate when we finally got our food, but none of the other customers had gotten their orders by the time we finished. It was a very tense feeling because everyone appeared to be ready to walkout but you pay before you eat so it was an odd situation. I would try them again after the kinks are out but my husband will never go back because he hates “Pop” Country Music and had to sit through an hour of songs and was about to leave me there waiting on my food.

This place is new and they are still working to get everything in order. The food we had was excellent as was the service. We went yesterday for the second time and I had the hamburger steak which was the daily special and my husband had the french fry poboy. The lady that owns the place talked with us yesterday and she is such a sweet down to earth person. She has been through a LOT of hard times with her last restaurant she had for many many years in St. Bernard being flooded and destroyed twice after 2 bad hurricanes. She moved to this side of the lake and decided to bless Pearl River with her excellent food. She’s been struggling to get the food supplies she needs, such as the batter for her onion rings that she always used has been hard to get, along with other things. The cost of food has gone way up and it has effected all restaurants so it’s just a fact that you will pay more for fresh made home style cooking but to me, what we got for the money was excellent. The poboys are stuffed good and my hamburger steak plate came with mashed potatoes WITH the best gravy you ever had, a salad, butter toasted french bread and it included my drink for $14.99, it was so good. The last time we came I had the roast beef and let me tell you this, you WON’T be disappointed because her roast beef is the kind that’s like roast cooked till it’s falling apart, NOT that sliced stuff you get other places and my husband had a Pattons hot sausage poboy and he said they put more sausage on his poboy then he had ever gotten anywhere. Please give Grannys kitchen a chance because Pearl River needs a good poboy sandwich shop like this. If something happens with your order and you feel like it needs to be corrected, speak to them in person or leave a private message on the Granny’s Kitchen facebook page. If you leave a bad review on google reviews, it doesn’t go away and it really hurts a new business that’s just getting started, there is always a few kinks to work out but for us, the 2 times we’ve been there has been an excellent experience. We will definitely be back, over and over again! Support your local business and get some excellent food!

I was on hold for 10 minutes to place an order. When I picked my food, hamburgers up were cold, no seasoning, burnt. I paid $34 for 2 burgers and 2 orders of small fries. I threw away the food after eating a small portion. I will not return to this restaurant even though it’s 3 minutes from my home.
